We traveled north to Kim's Lakeside Hideaway staying just ahead of Hermine. We were in the area to attend the Brimfield Antique and Flea Market September event, so we were hoping and praying the storm would stay out at sea.
When we arrived the wind was blowing so hard there were white caps on the lake! Inside the apt., however, things were calm and comfortable. The apt. feels like home immediately and I think that is because Kim has decorated it so tastefully and the furniture layout is perfect. We were concerned because the house sits right on a very busy road, but inside the traffic noise is not a factor. The bedroom is closest to the road, but because the room is mostly below the road we enjoyed peaceful sleep. The kitchen was well equipped and Kim had it stocked with all the essentials, particularly wine glasses and coffee mugs. There were two TVS in the apt but we never turned them on since watching the lake was so interesting. Large flocks of gesee came in late in the day and took flight after sunrise. There were folks boating and fishing (once the wind and waves died down), a family of ducks tormented our dog from the safety of the water, and we saw a few herons sail past as well. Sitting on the deck in the evening sipping wine after a day of browsing in Brimfield was heaven.
Also have to mention 308 Lakeside. We ate dinner there all three nights. There are a few pizza places nearby, a Thai restaurant and the Clam Box, but my husband became addicted to the Lakeside's fried oyster appetizer, so we had to keep going back, especially since it was only two doors down.
We couldn't have asked for a better location, accommodations or atmosphere.
