A fantastic place to relax and unwind.

We had a great vacation and everyone enjoyed themselves. The house was beautiful and the view was spectacular with lots of activity on the lake. It was a very tranquil spot conducive to relaxing. The parking was ample for all of our cars. We took advantage of the fire pit on the shoreline and there was plenty of wood available. The owners allowed us to have a paint night in the living/dining room. The grocery store was only about 2-3 miles away. It was nice not to have to buy the basic essentials such as toilet paper, cleaning products, trash bags, foil, plastic wrap and hand soap. The cookware was more than adequate even for people who like to cook. The dish situation was another story. There was plenty of silverware and cooking utensils but the dishes and glassware were sparse and definitely not enough for 16 people.

Nice rustic retreat for our extended family

                          4 of 5
Our extended family (8 people + dog) stayed here for a week in July and really enjoyed it, despite the lack of AC during a heat wave. It was easy to kayak the lake, we could all eat dinner on the deck, we made s'mores around the fire pit, and the kids loved all the toys and games (plus the badminton net and hammock). I would definitely recommend it, but renters should be aware of a couple of things: 1. There's no Internet, and while the owner said AT&T cell service is excellent, we got virtually no signal with our Verizon or T-Mobile devices. (This was a challenge for me personally, because I had to work part of the week and was hoping to set up a mobile hotspot. But the adorable town of Great Barrington is very close by, with free Wi-Fi in the library.) 2. It's a pretty rustic and natural setting, which was a plus for some of us but not for everyone. We saw a number of beavers -- legit! -- swimming in the lake, which was really cool. We also saw a water snake near the dock, which was not as cool, and pretty much kept us from swimming the rest of the week! If you don't mind getting up close and personal with nature, and are more interested in kayaking than swimming (or visit in the winter instead) then it's a really nice, cozy, pet-friendly place for a big group.

We found this lovely home to be well equipped with everything we could ever need, including a few we don't even have in our own home! The light and air , contemporary furnishings and great location combined to make this the perfect vacation get a wayl The owner was very responsive throughout the process and easy to communicate with overall. We had fabulous dinners on the large comfortable deck and several competitive table tennis matches in the downstairs. Visiting Tanglewood, Jacobs Pillow and the Shakespeare Company were all wonderful experiences, but the best part of the day was coming back to this refuge. I would highly recommend it to friends and family.
