        Lovely Cottage

        5 of 5
My husband and I were so delighted when we walked into this lovely cottage/converted barn. It is completely modern yet charming, with signs of the original barn left in place. I loved the wide stairwell, the beautiful paintings on the walls, and the large modern bathroom. We had breakfast on the lovely back porch every morning and were struck by how completely quiet the world can still be.

Perfect Cottage on "Quietside" of MDI

        5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at this cottage for a long weekend stay on Mt. Desert Island. It is lovely and quiet - everything you might need for a week at Acadia. The cottage is simple but well outfitted and the owners are friendly and available with help and advice on the island. And the views are spectacular. This would be the perfect place to stay during this summer's Centenary of the park - this side of the island is always peaceful but only a short drive from the main parts of the park. We did some hiking and the carriage roads are perfect for biking. Away from the tourist spots of Bar Harbor (but close enough to go in for dinner or even an ice cream cone!), it is Maine at it's most authentic. Thanks Weslea and Curtis for a wonderful weekend!
