Seal Ledges Stay- Labor Day week 2016

Our family has returned many times to his tranquil quietside location. The expansive yard, large porch area with a fireplace, and Sunset Cove view are tough to beat. The house is very clean, and there is great attention to every detail. We are looking forward to returning in 2017.

A quiet retreat and a base from which to explore

We spent a wonderful week at Spruce Knoll in early September. The property is situated on a beautiful piece of land and the soaring great room brings the outdoors in. We will remember early mist curtaining Western Mountain, the beautiful sunsets and a deck magical for stargazing for a long time. Peg’s home was our refuge for a week – a place to read and dream and observe the natural world – and head out from to explore Acadia. We found Peg to be our perfect owner – both very responsive and ready to share her knowledge of the island and deep sense of place – and respectful of our temporary stewardship.

                Summer Bliss

                5 of 5
Sunset Point Cottage was a outstanding location for a Mount Desert Island vacation. The private setting on the most quintessential Maine coastline provided both morning peace and beautiful evening sunsets. We could watch sunsets from the porch or the lawn or down close to the waters rocky coast. The house was well maintained, very clean and fully equipped. Two lobster and steamer dinners were enjoyed supplied by local lobsterman - a meal requiring a well equipped kitchen and supplies! We also found the "Quietside of the Island" to have the best weather as the Park was often fogged in, but when we headed over to the Park, much fun was had by all - hiking, painting, beaching. The house was also comfortable for being inside on rainy days or evenings bringing much family fun with cards and games and last resort, TV if desired. We would enjoy our mornings at the cottage, leave for the day to enjoy Acadia and return for afternoon and evening activity (other than one sunset on Cadillac Mountain). Everything is easy to get to from the cottage (be it Southwest or Northeast Harbors or Bar Harbor or the Park) and yet it is wonderful to be able to get away from the more crowded side. We very much enjoyed the Beehive Hike and Beech Mtn (close to cottage). One could also enjoy the entire day at the cottage complete with a pebble beach and swimming and kayaking opportunities. (Water was the warmest than any other spot!) After much experience with Home Away rentals, this one is a gem, accurately depicted, very well supplied with kitchen utensils, towels, soaps and very clean. The owners were very welcoming and friendly people and extremely attentive and caring about our family's personal needs and concerns. Highly recommend for a Downeast Maine! vacation!
