My family, which includes 2 teenagers, stayed at this home from 7.31.16 through 8.5.16. The home has been completely updated and was very clean. It had plenty of towels and linens, however the house does have a washer and dryer which we used just to stay on top of our own laundry. The location is ideal for those wanting to frequent Acadia and Bar Harbor but don't want all of the people (you can't see the neighbors' houses and we didn't see anyone else, other than the occasional car). It's only about a 15-20 minute easy drive from the house to the entrance of Acadia National Park, which we frequented every day. The house sits about 50 yards from the water which looks like a large lake but, in reality, is a Cove, meaning it is subject to high and low tides. We rented paddleboards for the week and the kids could paddleboard in the morning (we were introduced to high and low tides on this trip--low tide is about 4-5:00 a.m. and p.m. Consequently if you are wanting to be in the water, you have to wait until about 10:00 a.m. At high tide, I would estimate the water is 10-15 feet deep but calm--perfect for paddleboards) and then we went hiking in the afternoon in Acadia. Some evenings we would eat dinner in Bar Harbor or eat at one of the many lobster pounds on our way home. The house is about a 10 minute drive from a super Wal-Mart so you can easily stock up on the essentials. The grounds of the house were also extremely clean. We used the firepit every evening. The owners had plenty of cut wood for our use and they even had the pit filled and primed for the first night--all we had to do is throw a match on it! The place is great! The pictures don't do it justice. The glass wall faces due east and on my very first morning I sat on the deck and watched the sun rise. By far the best thing about this house are the owners. We have been staying at VRBOs for about 10 years. These owners were the best we've ever dealt with! We would love to come back and stay at this property.
