Griffith's Farmhouse: Is it too cliche to say Heaven on Earth?

                      5 of 5
Here's one of those instances where the pictures tell a true story. Every ounce of this home and its location is as magical as its photographs. In fact, I'm sitting in the house now, knowing it's our family's last full day and I feel like pulling a page out of my toddler's book, digging in my heels, and refusing to leave. So what makes it so special? The view, for one. We spent each evening on the front porch watching sailboats glide in and out of the bay. Nearly every morning, the view in the back was of a family of deer, quietly munching on grass and tree leaves. They only scampered away when they heard my children squealing with delight. Then there's the house itself. Perfection around every turn, in every room. Of course there's the utility of it, big rooms, big kitchen and dining room, front and back porches, great water pressure...but that's not what makes it so special. What makes it special is its character - the built-ins, the antique furniture, the vintage wallpaper, vintage glassware, the amazing art, the views out of every window. The house has a soul, a warm one, one that we felt honored to get to know. Finally, there's the location. We've managed to bike, hike, and drive the entire island during our stay, and I can say with complete confidence there's no better spot on the island. There's no better quiet street for evening strolls, no better views, no better people, no better feeling of peace. I guess that's why we chose the "quiet side." We wanted to pack our days with activity and come home to a feeling of complete tranquility. That's exactly what the Griffiths Farmhouse offers. A little about us? We're an active couple with three children, ages 8, 5 and 21 months. Our favorite family activities during our stay were the Ship Harbor and Gorham Trail Hikes, riding the Carriage Trails on our Bikes (that we rented from Southwest Cycle), swimming in Echo Lake and at Sand Beach, exploring Bar Harbor, and taking a stroll every evening down the street the home sits on.

                      PERFECT!

We stayed here for a week with my parents, my husband and I, and our three children (9, 6, & 3) and LOVED IT! The house was comfortable, clean and cozy. It was very kid friendly, as was the entire island; the house is right across the street from the school and it's great playground. The house had everything you could possibly need, more so than any other house I've ever rented. The communication with Jo and then Melissa while on the island was great and frequent. We'd highly recommend staying here!

Not my first time here and surely not my last. Lovely farmhouse with some recent upgrades that made our stay even better. The wifi was a nice upgrade while the addition of the washer & dryer was a major plus! My family has already been talking about returning!!
