Cute, comfortable place within a half hour from Sunday River

              4 of 5
This is a quaint, cozy place that is decorated really comfortably and tastefully in the interior. There were two families, each with 2 kids, so 8 people total. The kitchen offered all the amenities and utensils you would need to make your own meals. We also appreciated having salt, pepper, oil, saran wrap, baggies, and dishwashing detergent to make cooking in easier. We could adjust our heat to make it quite comfortable in the winter. There are two bathrooms, but only one has a shower. Quick showers are recommended due to the size of the hot water heater. Downstairs featured a kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom with twin beds. It also featured a washer and dryer, 3 good sized televisions, a large assortment of DVDs and a DVD player. The upstairs featured a small bathroom with toilet and sink, a good size loft style living area with queen futon, a bedroom with king size bed, and bedroom with two twin beds. The upstairs had baseboard heat, while the rest was forced hot air. The Boutins had a nice supply of toilet paper, tissues, and hand soap, for the bathrooms (bring your own shampoo and bath soap). There's also a hair dryer. Everything looked very clean and well cared for. Hannafords was about an 8-10 minute drive in Rumford. Location was about a 30 minute drive from Sunday River. There's a terrific, large porch to enter through, which would be great to hang out in during the warmer months.

              Great Mountain Getaway!

              5 of 5
My wife and I stayed at this cabin in the woods while visiting to watch the Maine leaves change beautiful colors. We've stayed at many VRBO properties and this one was a fabulous find! The owners were extremely responsive to our e-mails and texts. They provided information on the area and advice on things to do which was helpful to me since I'd never been to Maine before. The home is wonderfully decorated on all 3 levels. Properly "rustic" but extremely clean and nicely furnished. There is accent lighting that automatically turned on / off so that I could navigate at night or early in the morning on the way to the coffee pot. I was able to pair my phone with the sound system easily and the WiFi worked without any issues. The owners are nice enough to include free movie rentals and we took in a late night movie after a day exploring the area. And, we streamed pictures from my phone to TV on the lower level. The kitchen is stocked with cooking essentials and more. We hadn't shopped before arriving and there were some things in the freezer that were perfect after the drive into the mountains as well as some breakfast items for the next morning. The property itself is nestled into the surrounding woods. We utilized the fire pit and available wood on one of the cool evenings while enjoying the sunset with a glass of wine. Quiet and serene which was perfect after hiking the AT which is 25 minutes down the road. The hot tub was always heated, very clean, secluded, and afforded a night viewing of the stars. We could even see the Milky Way! There is nearby hiking right behind the property on some overgrown logging roads as well as some more difficult day hikes in the nearby State Park. Wished we lived closer so that we could take advantage of this property more frequently!
