Peaceful, charming old house by the side of the road

            5 of 5
Nicely updated old house, south of Southwest Harbor. Pretty walking path to Manset Shore begins across the street. Kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, pots & pans, utensils, lots of small kitchen appliances (3 types of coffee makers!). Quiet location, even though on road. Good internet connection; nice washer & dryer. Didn't need to fire up the pellet stove in the living room, but it looked inviting. Short drive to Bass Harbor Head lighthouse. Only a few cons - one bathroom, so you need to plan out your showers; no restaurants or shops within walking distance (but easy drive into Southwest Harbor). Very reasonable price for a whole house - would stay again.

Wonderful home in Southwest Harbor, Acadia

            5 of 5
We (2 couples) loved this spacious, comfortable home in Southwest Harbor and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Southwest Harbor is on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island and was the perfect base for our five day stay. The house is exactly as pictured, with everything you need, including some very thoughtful extras (loved the muffins! the wine! the Halloween candy! the fruit!) The kitchen is outfitted remarkably well for a rental, the beds are very comfortable, each of the three bedrooms has its own bath, and there is even Netflix available. The owners are on site but not intrusive in the least (in fact, we never even saw them in 5 days) and were very responsive and pleasant to deal with by email, phone, text. Their suggestions for places to eat and things to do are spot on. We have stayed in SWH before and can attest to the excellent food at The Rogue Cafe, Red Sky, and Thurston's. Really, a lovely place. Thanks, Sarah and Paul, for sharing your home.
