  • Even better than it looks.

Hard to believe, and I half expected to be let-down when we saw it in person. What the photos do not do justice to is the volume of space and all the windows looking at a fabulous Sarlat. Very nicely appointed, everything you could possibly need, and then a few extra blankets and pillows just in case. Extremely comfortable, and warm, even in the worst part of the winter (which is great because there is no traffic and no tourists. But most restaurants were closed - we managed to pick the off-season and vacation week for businesses but we stayed in and cooked. It was lovely.) Easy to get to (steep streets but you can get close) and parking not a problem. Not a city to visit without a car. The Dordogne Valley is 15m away, and Sarlat is more interesting and larger than the valley towns. (Stayed in Domme last time, much more to do in Sarlat.) Emmanuel sweet, easy to contact, and very nice. Highly recommend.

  • Amazing apartment in an amazing medieval town in the Dordogne.

My husband and I spent a week in Sarlat after his business trip in Paris. Everything about this apartment was perfect for us. Allison and Marc were the best hosts. Allison met us at the car park included in the rent and drove us into the center of town and our home for the next week. The cathedral was right outside our window as well as restaurants and shops. The Christmas Market started the day we arrived, so we wandered there many times during our stay. It added a festive, lively atmosphere. The apartment itself was a great fit for us - room to lounge or cook or sleep. It was fully equipped with all a person needs and then some. It is directly above Marc's restaurant and we would be greeted with scrumptious smells when we returned from a day of sightseeing. We ate there a couple times and were not disappointed. Marc is a great chef and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. Sarlat is the hub of this area of the Dordogne and there are many sights to see within an hour's drive. Being winter and off season, we were able to see these sights almost by ourselves. Lascaux cave museum and tour was so impressive and interesting as well as the hanging gardens of Marqueyssac. There is much more to see and explore. We would recommend this apartment and restaurant without hesitation. Many thanks to Marc and Allison (his muse).
