  • A delightful property in the heart of the Languedoc Region, providing a quiet haven for exploring..

The house is well presented, set in an easy care landscaped garden with large, heated & covered swimming pool. The extra accommodation annex, set apart from the house, provided a quiet and private escape for an extended family or extra guests. This is a modern single storey villa (hard to find in France, but ideal for those with limited mobility), that has a galley kitchen and delightful garden conservatory/dining room overlooking the pool and where we spent most of our time. The main bedroom has a comfortable, queen-size bed and large wardrobes and there is a second bedroom in the main house. The large lounge area provided ample space to relax and watch television, although with limited English-speaking channels. A second refrigerator and toilet in the laundry area behind the single garage were a welcome bonus. An outside garden table and chairs would be a welcome addition for evening drinks around the pool. When we arrived we had a warm welcome from the owner, Thierry, and the gifts of wine, jam and fruit juice were much appreciated. We thoroughly enjoyed our one-month stay and plan to re-visit in the future.

  • Perfect villa and location for a family holiday
    5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Saureto, helped by the very welcome ‘welcome pack’ on arrival with some essentials and a bottle of local wine. The villa was very clean, tidy and spacious with everything you could need on holiday - a real home from home - with lovely views out to the Med from the verandas and two excellent pools which the kids couldn’t stay out of! Even in the peak of August the pools were not overly busy. Fitou itself is small but charming with a couple of very good restaurants and excellent wine Caves, with some worthwhile local tours of local wine makers premises - Cap Leucate (free tickets from the welcome pack!) and Terra Vinea, etc. Be careful with how much wine you ‘taste’ however if driving! The beach at Leucate was excellent, long and super clean, with views out to the Pyrenees (Although we didn’t, Barcelona can be reached by train from Leucate) and more great restaurants in the town – ‘La Bodega El Flamingo’ being a firm favourite (definitely need to book however) We used the villa as a convenient base for day trips to Carcassonne, Toulouse, Narbonne, Perpignan and Collioure which were brilliant for culture, food, shopping and the typical French summer atmosphere. There are plenty of varied things to see and do in the region and the villa was well suited to relaxing and re-charging. I would highly recommend and would love to return again in the future.
