                                      Two weeks of perfection

                                      5 of 5
We just finished a wonderful two week stay in this beautiful villa. There were 4 of us the first week, and 5 of us the second week. There are not enough adjectives to describe this wonderful place. Lorella has done a fantastic job of describing her property, and it was exactly as we expected. The property was clean, and well appointed, and Lorella was available by email to answer any questions we had as the week went on. We loved spending time on the balconies just watching the activity in the harbor, the sunsets, and the few storms move in and out. We had intended to cook some of our meals, but in reality, we just ate out or got takeout from the shops in town. The hike up and down the hill put us in great shape for all the other hikes we did while in the Cinque Terre. There are many good eating places.......we were a little disappointed with Billy's as it had come highly recommended by many, but we found it to be average..........We loved Porticciolo and had 2 fantastic meals there.......we also tried all the morning spots for our cappuccino and brioche. Our favorite spot was Nessun Dorma - we loved taking the Pesto Course there, and getting a spritz and snacks in the afternoon - Simone was a delightful instructor. It was fun to sit outside while sipping cappuccino and watch the town get ready for the day with all the deliveries and store openings. We also really enjoyed our sunset cruise with Daniele. Another great experience was the Olive Oil Tasting Course at Olivium. The al fresco shower in the laundry room was a delight. I really can't think of a thing that needs to be changed. The property is very good value for the dollar, and we recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great Italian experience. We love hiking, and found this to be a great base for that. We would leave town mid morning before it got too crowded, spend the better part of the day on the trails, then return in the evening when the crowds were dying down. Manarola is one of the more quiet towns, so most evenings it was very peaceful. Thank you Lorella for a marvelous stay in a wonderful villa!

                                      Outstanding Property!

                                      5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here for two nights and I wish we had booked it for more. The apartment is in a beautiful location with a perfect view of the sunset from the balcony. The apartment has everything you need and is quite comfortable. The shower, while a little tight, was great and overall the apartment had plenty of space. You must be warned that there are about 300 steps UP to this apartment met with about 20 very narrow and steep steps back DOWN to it's entrance. It is rigorous and tiresome, but in life sometimes the best places are the hardest to get to and this is well worth the trip. Barbara and her father were quite helpful at check in and Orpheo came quickly when we reported a small problem with the toilet. He fixed it immediately and everything was great. He recommended we eat at Billy's which is next door. It was AMAZING! You must go and you must order the fish special of the day. The waiter recommended a white wine from Cinque Terre which was the best white I have ever had. Please note that Billy's is closed on Thursday nights. We wanted to go back our second night and could not so I am so glad we went our first night there. I strongly recommend you stay in this apartment in Manarola! It is a beautiful town and we hiked to Valastra, Corniglia and Vernazza. It was a much larger undertaking then they warn you of with some pretty steep heights, but also a must do! Take the day, hike it and return on the ferry. Thank you Barbara and Orpheo!

                                      Wonderful retreat in Northern Tuscany

                                      5 of 5
We had a fantastic time staying at the Villa Terra di Luna near Fivizzano in Northern Tuscany, our first trip to Italy as a family of 4, with two children aged 7 and 4. The villa was incredibly spacious and full of character and you could see that the owner Michael had spent a significant amount of time restoring it and decorating it to a high standard. It is located in a small hamlet of villas and is very quiet, but has wonderful views over the valley and towards the Apuane Alps. The highlight had for us had to be the split level outdoor area which had a great BBQ and large, communal table near the villa with the pool and other areas lower down. The salt water pool was the main attraction, and the kids loved being in it at every opportunity. It had a large shallower area which made it ideal for our youngest to start to learn to swim. The surrounding area had enough loungers and shaded areas to suit all tastes which meant you could spend all your time in the villa if you wished without venturing out further. The fact that the pool was on a different level and gated off meant we could also keep the children safe when required. Whilst the surrounding area may not be the typical Tuscan landscape, the local town of Fivizzano has a strong sense of community. We were lucky enough to be there to see "La Disfida degli Arcieri di Terra e di Corte" medieval procession and archery competition and the central square had a number of places to eat and drink both during the day and in the evening which have been commented on in previous reviews. Further afield, the villa is ideally placed to visit the Cinque Terre, Pisa and Lucca. As it was July when we visited, we obviously had warm temperatures in the high 20's and low 30's, however due to the mountains and general elevation the area can be prone to Summer storms which did sometimes knock out the power for a short period of time. Finally, the owner Michael Playford was very helpful and helped to point out local attractions and places to eat and visit.
