Overall: It was awesome! And meeting Elizabeth and Adi, the owners, was a highlight! Loved them and hiking all over the property! Enjoyed Most: We loved everything! Enjoyed Least: Initially the elaborate recycle process was a little daunting but we adapted and felt good about helping the planet. The WiFi was also a little challenging with so many of us on computers, laptops and devices! Surrounding Area: The view was amazing! The hikes were splendid! Nearby Events or Locales: Sciano. Great pizza at Marino's. And yes my husband and I could have easily walked it but roads are narrow with no shoulder. Tips or Restaurants: Mssrs Boccaccio in Certaldo Alto was great! So was Antica Fonte . Marino's in Sciano was a regular hang out for all of us! Directions: We used GPS and still had an issue but only because the driveway is kind of hidden from the direction we came in and there are no numbers on the "street." But once we turned around we found it. Check In Out: Check in/check out was very efficient.

Fantastic and Romantic Getaway--Very Peaceful and Yet Close to Florence

            5 of 5
My wife and I stayed in Francesca's wonderful apartment the week of Christmas. It could not have gone any better. We were looking for a quiet and beautiful place to use a base while we were exploring Florence and its outskirts. We wanted somewhere convenient to Florence, but that also allowed us the tranquility of the countryside. The apartment met both requests easily. From the intricate ceilings to the frescoes to the tasteful (but comfortable!) furniture, everything was impeccable. Since we live in the States in a fairly new house, it was pretty incredible to be staying in such a warm and elegant setting, knowing that it was built something like 800 years ago. We had plenty of room to relax and really recoup here, especially in front of the fireplace, something we both truly appreciated after a particularly “full” museum day in Florence (and also after similar days in Chianti!). This was our first Christmas away from home in a long time and Francesca saw to it that we actually felt at home. We knew there would be the “basics” like good-quality linens, lots of hot water, plenty of firewood, and so forth, but it was a delightful surprise to find a kitchen stocked with the essentials and even to find a decorated Christmas tree upon our arrival, too. The great thing about the location here is that we were in the middle of the country side, but we could drive to Florence in about 15 minutes with our car, park it, and then take a bus into the historic center (you can’t drive into the city center during the day without a special pass) in about 10 minutes. Thank you so much Francesca for a lovely stay. We will definitely be back!
