        Absolutely Amazing

        5 of 5
This place was just absolutely amazing. The pictures don't do it justice. I walked in for the first time, and wanted to buy it! Sean and Nora met us at the cottage for our arrival. They were very friendly, and telling us about all the best local places to go in the area, and going over the details about the cottage. The cottage has all the comforts of home, the views are absolutely spectacular. You can see the Mizen Head light house in the distance. The cottage is just about a mile from the village of Goleen. We walked a couple of times to Goleen from the cottage, to get delicious scones and cappuccinos from this little bakery shop. The cottage is only a short drive maybe @15 minutes to Crookhaven with a couple of good restaurants and pubs, and Mizen Head, and also Three Castle Head.. Three Castle Head being our favorite, and the little cafe at Three Castle Head overlooking the ocean had fantastic food and picnic tables set up outside. They have a small grill on the back deck that we took advantage of.. picking up meats at the local butcher in Goleen. We also had a picnic on the lawn one day.. We also drove into Schull one day for the farmer's market, which was great. Can't say enough about how beautiful the setting is.. They also have a fireplace that we used a few nights as well.. Everything you could ever want. We loved meeting the local people, all so friendly.. and this area really is a bit off the beaten path for most non-Irish tourists.. Southwest Cork has to be the most beautiful part of Ireland, and still has retained it's quaintness and charm. We definitely hope to go back some day soon!

The Way Summers Should Be Spent

        5 of 5
Staying at Rossbrin was exactly what our family was looking for. Coming from Hong Kong, we wanted something isolated but not isolating; secluded but not remote. Whether taking the short talk down to the coast or the scenic drive into Schull, the Addeyhouse is ideally located in the area of fine dining, scenic drives, and cultural/historic sights. My young sons (ages 5 and 7) loved the expansive yard and animals. My parents and I enjoyed the fabulous sea views, quiet, and access to fresh food. The house was tidy and cozy, with ample room for the five of us (three adults and two children). Renting a car in Cork, we enjoyed the beautiful drive to Rossbrin and found the house without much difficulty. (When Nick sends directions like, "...turn right at the cow and keep going past the black dog..." you know it is going to be a great location.) Day trips included a boat to Cape Clear, driving to the Ring of Kerry, Mizen Head, numerous castles and stone circles, Baltimore, dining at The Bunratty Inn... it was all lovely. We look forward to the day we can return.
