We spent one week at this spotlessly clean cottage. It is all new with an open floor plan downstairs with many windows to let in the views and light and bedrooms upstairs. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed as well as comfortable beds and good black out shades in case one is traveling during the summer months. The cottage is located very near to the national park and easy access to the glacier. Many trails and hiking are available as well as horseback riding. The landscape is dramatic but is only about 2 hours from Reykjavik. Every morning we awoke to see the glacier covered mountain and hear the birds singing in the grass; the crashing of the waves on the rugged shoreline and the full moon lulled us to sleep or the winds in the eves pass over you in this cozy location. There is a small cafe nearby with reasonable prices but it is best to bring food for cooking larger meals. At times, horses or sheep may wander by to say hello. A great getaway and interesting. In winter because of the lack of ambient light, norther lights can be seen here. The town has about 10 permanent residents in winter so it feels remote, but the cottage and location make it very convenient.
