I recently went to Maui to visit family and stayed at Carrie's Tiny House. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to stay there again. There was a lot to love about this tiny house. First off, Carrie is a great host. Communication with her is always very prompt and she answered all my questions. When I was at the house, I was looking for a quiet place to just relax and I found that. I didn't see Carrie after the first day, but have no doubts that if I needed anything, that she'd be more than willing to help out right away.
The tiny house is just that, tiny. But it was perfect for what I was looking for. This trip I was by myself, but I hope to be back to the house with my girlfriend on my next trip. The pictures are very accurate and the house is very clean. It's super cozy and comfortable. The bed is very comfortable, although the futon downstairs wasn't quite as comfy. I was looking for something different and fun and I definitely found it here.
Please note that if you're looking for a typical house, just smaller, you may want to ask Carrie a couple questions before you book. First off, there is no bathroom or sink inside the house. They are all located across the deck in a separate outbuilding, just like the description in the listing says. I had NO problems with this set up, and in fact it brought back good memories of a very similar set up when I used to stay at my grandparents house on Maui. But it's something you need to consider. The stairs upstairs are steep and have a tight spiral. Also, there aren't any drawers for clothes storage and only few spots to hang clothes, so I was literally living out of my suitcase for my stay. Again, I was totally fine with this; you just need to make sure you are too. If you are looking for a place to party and be loud, this probably isn't the place for you. It's in a quiet residential area... once again, just what I was looking for. So there are definitely some things that I would suggest you consider before renting, but if you want something different, cozy, quiet and fun, this is absolutely a great place to stay.
The location of the house is on the northern end of Kihei, just as you begin to drive into town. From here it's easy to get to other parts of the island, but the best part of the location is that it's close to Ululani's Shave Ice, which is by far the best shave ice you'll find... anywhere!!
Overall, I loved my stay and have no problems recommending it.
