Clean and comfortable

4 of 5
We enjoyed our stay here in Fecamp. The house is a typical 19th century row-house that has been updated. When you walk inside, there is a long hallway with the w.c. and stairs at the end. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are to the right of the entry down the hall. Access to the backyard is through the kitchen. The backyard has a large plastic table and chairs, 2 lounge chairs, a small grassy area, and a shed. Up the stairs, there are two bedrooms with large beds on the first floor. The top floor has a bedroom with a single bed and a bunk bed, a small dressing room with couch and dresser, and the bathroom. What we liked: Plenty of room for 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 1 child. Comfortable living area Comfortable mattresses (VERY important!) Rolling shades Charming decorations and bedroom sets Basic kitchen amenities Backyard table Washing machine and drying rack What we wish was different: Bigger shower in the bathroom Set of drawers in the master bedroom What you will need: Consumables (toilet paper, paper towels, tin foil, plastic wrap, seasonings, etc) Bedding (we opted to pay extra for this service to be provided) Towels (you can pay for them to provide towels) Helpful tips: Everything is within close walking distance and in a quiet neighborhood Carrefour 5 min walk Centre ville 5 min walk Great bakery 2 min walk (we LOVED the bakery on the corner) Go to the farmer's market on Saturdays to get great homemade and local products L'eclerc -10 min drive Visit Benedictine Walk along the Port and the Beach (grab a crepe and/or ice cream) Day trips: Visit Etretat Visit Honfleur harbor (get some excellent Rose flavored ice cream) Visit Veule les Roses (walk along the river running to the ocean) Visit Valmont on the river Visit Cany Barville (lake Canielle is a great place to take a walk or a great place for the kids to play. In summer, there is a giant Wibbit blow-up toy for kids to climb and play on in the water, paddle boards, kayaks, water skiing, luge, basketball, wind surfing, etc).

Lovely house and charming town! Stay here to experience Normandy

4 of 5
The house was absolutely lovely and very comfortable. We had a bit of trouble finding the house but once we were there we felt immediately relaxed. At arrival the owners and the agents were extremely friendly and helpful. The house was very spacious and comfortable with delightful views of the charming town of Yport and a pretty garden. The house has the feel of an old house that has been carefully and tastefully modernized. We loved that the 2 "master" type bedrooms were well-separated for privacy. There are basically 4 bedrooms and 1 extra room with a crib. It was perfect for us with two teens and a 10- year old. Everyone had their own space. The beds were relatively comfortable. There is a spacious but very welcoming family room where we relaxed quite a bit and watched TV (after walking all day that felt good). I really enjoyed the deck....a very peaceful place to sit late afternoon and soak up the warm sun. There was also a good washer and dryer and nice kitchen. We didn't cook at all...we chose to go out to eat instead, but you could cook in the kitchen. Yport itself is absolutely adorable!! The house is set up on a hill above town. We parked the car at the house and only used it to go out of the town. When we went into town we walked. It is about a 5 minute walk down the hill into town and to the beach. We went to the grocery store for fruit and chocolate, etc daily. We used the bakery for delicious croissants daily and we ate at restaurants for dinner and lunch. The restaurants in Yport are mostly pretty mediocre. Nearby we LOVED Restaurant Pierre Caillet in Valmont!!! Get ready for a 3-4 hour meal that will blow your mind. And we also went twice to Lann-Bihoue in Etretat for lunch: delicious traditional gallette and cider of Normandy. The cliffs of Yport and Etretat are breathtaking. Etretat is a nearby town that is way more touristy (parking is tough, just park a little out of town and walk in) but the cliffs are easy to climb as they have stairs and paths and ralings, etc. In Yport you are a bit more on your own. I walked daily down the hill into town and then up the big cliff to the left of the beach and along the cliff. The path is narrow but worth the hike; gorgeous views and no crowds. The beach at Yport is all rocks (and at Etretat too) and filled with seaweed but it's so lovely! The temperature was mostly in the 60s F and the warmest day it got up to 70 F, so way to cold for ME to swim but lovely nevertheless.
