An expansive property with outstanding views

5 of 5
Staying here was the best part of our 2-week holiday. Regardless of what wonderful thing we had done during the day, we could hardly wait to get back to sit out on the terrace with its expansive view over the river valley and rooftops. The property is high up, but a narrow back road leads up through the back of the town right to it, where you’ll find a private parking area that easily accommodated our 3 cars. Another jewel is the pool, which appears to be the most recent addition (looks newer) and is beautifully situated one level down from the manor and has its own gorgeous views. We visited in early September 2016 during a serious heatwave and the pool was greatly appreciated. The manor does not have air-conditioning, but the thick stone walls kept it amazingly cool. This is not a fancy place---some furniture and fixtures are older, some doors have trouble fully closing---but it’s still quite atmospheric and comfortable, and the rental price is reasonable for what you get.

Vivre comme un français

My girlfriend and I wanted to leave our hectic lives in the city of Vancouver, Canada. She somehow stumbled upon this manoir while looking on this website and I do not regret her booking it without my consent--sneaky woman. At first glance it was amazing to see how well maintained a 13th century building could be. I figured that I shouldn't have judged a book by its cover immediately, but the interior did not change my idea of the manoir one bit. Everything was absolutely authentic and beautiful inside. Other than the manoir, we spent some time site seeing. One of the most interesting places we visited was the Gouffre de Padriac; which was really close by. I highly recommend anyone who enjoys nature to trek to this cave. Overall, this place was fantastic and my girlfriend and I even recommend it to our friends. The only issue I had were the insects, but that's expected from a city boy and while being in the countryside.
