I have had the pleasure of staying at the Chateau Beaufort and it is an amazing experience!
Visiting this area is great in any season, I have been there all 4. The house is impressive and stately, yet warm, welcoming and very comfortable. Driving up the long driveways from the front or back of the Chateau, one is struck by the beautiful stone walls and ancient slate roof.
Surrounded by forests and streams at the headwaters of the Dordogne River, the setting is serene and breathtaking.
The nearby village is a short and lovely walk. We got our fresh bread and pastries each morning on our stroll under the trees to the bakery.
Imagine a roaring fireplace big enough to stand in, during long evenings in The Great Room. During the Autumn and Holidays, I especially enjoy this.
The period antiques, rugs and furnishings are first rate.
Beautiful grounds and a superb saltwater pool (surrounded by lavender) next to a Bocce ball/Petanque court. The poolhouse has amenities like refrigerator, shower and bathroom, so lounging for hours there is a treat!
There is a beautiful lake 1 km away which has superb swimming and small boats for hire.
Fantastic tennis courts are just a few minutes walk up the road.
Surrounding region is rich in historical sights and natural beauty. Argentat, Tulle and Brive are a short drive with many resources great places to shop.
Day trips to many points of interest are easy, and returning to this magical estate is a joy after a day of exploring! There is a large lake nearby that offers waterskiing for hire. As local stable is only minutes away, offering horseback riding.
The stars are ablaze in the nighttime sky here; I have seen many incredible shooting stars from the house.
My children absolutely love it here.
