Fairytale Wedding at the historical Chateau de Beaulieu

              5 of 5
I am forever grateful that Fabienne allowed us to rent this special chateau for our wedding and residence while in France. It was beautiful, romantic, and the perfect setting for our dream wedding. I thoroughly enjoyed the history behind de Beaulieu, and believe it to be very well kept. Fabianne was the most gracious host, and we were very thankful for the fresh flowers-- and the most delicious meal she provided upon our arrival. I'm hesitant to openly thank her for the meal (as I do not think that someone renting should expect a meal) but I just have to say it was the best we had in France... and we paid a lot of money at a very fancy restaurant in Paris for our reception meal. I wish that this review would allow me to post photos, however, I can confirm that the photos of the property do represent it in reality. You will not be disappointed in château de Beaulieu. I hope to return some day, thanks for everything. Katie & Bobby

Felt like stepping back in time

              5 of 5
To have been a Duchess/Duke in the day living in this fantastic chateau...but of course back then there were no amenities! Entry to the estate via the tree lined drive and up to the fantastic gates (you need a code to access, which would have been nice to have received in advance), past the orangerie buildings to the grand house itself. Apparently there has been word of LaTrousse dating back to the 1300's, and some buildings date to the 1700's, but the main house is of the late 1800's. Used as a hospital during the war, and possibly still in the family....the entire property has been divided into 35 apartments (28 some owners), many owned as country homes, some are available for rent, such as this one. You can google and find info on this stately residence. Comprised of two floors, the main living and dining space is where you first walk into (2nd floor of the chateau, up the grand stone staircase). Lovely large windows open up onto the front lawn and pond (small lake) for a spectacular view. A cozy kitchen (induction stove top, microwave, large euro fridge) with a cupboard full of dishes/pots and a toilet/sink room complete that floor. Up a steep and winding (and very noisy) wooden staircase are two bedrooms (2 twins pushed together in one room, 2 twins in the other) share a common shower and sink room. No toilet upstairs(which makes for noisy and somewhat treacherous trips downstairs in the middle of the night if you need to go). All rooms have the same views through large windows. Beds were comfortable, but the room could definitely benefit from a fan during the summer, even with Windows open, it was challenging to get a breeze coming through). Buy mosquito repellant if you plan to open those windows, while the owner has a couple of screens that can be easily installed (and of course that wreck the view), there weren't enough to cover all windows, so we suffered a bit from the little biting blighters. A short drive will bring you to a grocery store, and if you cross the bridge, into Lizy-sur-Ourque, you will find 2 bakeries (one open from Wednesday onward for some reason), 2 pharmacies, but little in the way of restaurants (pizza and kebabs only) that we could find. Location is good for many day trips: Europe's biggest mall (Val d'Europe) a 35 minute drive; CDG :50 away; :37 to Disney; and :60 to the champagne town of Epernay. Have always wanted to try a stay in a chateau, this one certainly ticked all the boxes!

We were staying as a family of six adults and one baby for a week. Part of the holiday was to go to Disneyland so the location was ideal for that. The setting was beautiful, calm, verdant and refreshing. The pool, tennis court, grounds and our own bit of garden were also ideal for relaxation and exercise. The service was welcoming - 2 of us were very kindly picked up at the station in Lizy - and some- things we needed were quickly dealt with eg high chair, to use the washing machine. The decor downstairs was great.
