                        Recent Chamonix Reviews

                        A cozy couples' hideaway

                        5 of 5
What a comfy cottage in Chamonix! You will love the fresh lettuce from the garden that you pick to your own delight, a modern kitchen with a dreamy pass-through window for ease of outdoor dining, freshly baked goodies (fruit pies and lemon bread) that hostess Florence provides, outdoor furniture where you can sit & admire the view of the Aiguille de Midi (highest point of Mont Blanc) while hang gliders float just below snow covered mountain tops. The king-size bed and linens are topnotch, internet & TV connections perfect, and the short 15 minute walk into Chamonix convenient for your daily constitutional & loads of delicious food choices. Florence is welcoming & shares many a local story, just ask her about her mother's skiing career! The hiking here is spectacular; we did the Tour de Mont Blanc after our one week stay at the chalet to get used to the altitude. Great place for reconnecting with your partner. This makes the perfect anniversary surprise, I kept hearing "oohs & ahhs." No better place to stay in this area. Merci beaucoup Florence!

                        Perfect view

                        4 of 5
My sister, husband, and I spent 5 days at Chalet Suay. We were greeted by Flo, the caretaker. She explained the house and gave us thoughts on places to dine. The chalet is connected to two other units. There is a lower unit which has a door right at the steps to the chalet and the front of the building has a unit as well. We enjoyed the proximity the chalet had to a river, hiking trails, and there is a bus stop at the end of the driveway. We did have a few hiccups with the chalet but none were too taxing. We contacted Flo each time and she was quick to respond. We appreciated having her contact information and she was quite a delight. The chalet has a wonderful view of Mont Blanc and the sunsets on the side of the mountain were glorious. There is a small parking lot down the long shared driveway. We drove up to the chalet door only once, it was very hard to back out of the driveway which is shared with the lower unit. We decided the walk up the hill was worth the safety of the rental car. There is a fantastic river running beside the chalet and we enjoyed listening to it at night. Right across the river walkway, out the main door, is a trail. We took the trail up to a chalet and enjoyed fondue overlooking the valley. We are from Florida so this hike was an intense walk UP! You will see many hikers passing by the chalet on their way to a trail or from the trail. There is a very small grocery store in town (can be closed at odd times) and a larger one is Passey. You could reach the chalet using the train/bus, however, I would highly recommend a car. The drive to Chamonix was lovely, but it was nice to get out of the busy town and back to our lovely chalet after a day of hiking. Be warned though, if you are using the upstairs main bedroom you must duck low to get through the gate door. I am 5'3" and my husband is 6'7", of course he had to duck often, including in the kitchen from the lowered lights. However, I had to duck a good deal to get into the bedroom from the bathroom. After a few times knocking your head, you'll learn how low to duck! Worth all the bumps to enjoy such a lovely place! Thank you Tom for sharing Chalet Suay with us, we enjoyed our stay!

                        Beautiful chalet in perfect location

                        5 of 5
This chalet worked out perfectly for us! It is a beautiful home and very well equipped and maintained. For us the location was perfect; very easy access to hiking trails and Brevant lift and is on a street high above the town. It was a quiet street above the bustle of town yet easy walking distance (albeit down and up the hill!). The views are absolutely spectacular of Mont Blanc. It is large enough that it gave us flexibility for accommodating friends and family we weren't sure were going to come, but was still very nice for the 3 of us. Vanessa was very helpful to work with and answered some travel/logistics questions for me and met us at the driveway. She had warned us of construction of a new house going up next door and offered the option of changing or cancelling our reservation. But, she checked on the work hours and the timing was when we would be out hiking anyway so it was of little consequence (and the workers were very nice!). She left us two very generous restaurant vouchers as a very nice gesture. Her restaurant recommendations included some places just off the beaten path that might not be easily found otherwise and were excellent and a little less touristy than those on the main drag. We were very happy there and highly recommend this chalet!
