Recent Cannes - Grasse - Antibes Reviews

Peaceful....

5 of 5
We just spent 5 days at this wonderful property and are so happy to have found such a great location. The property is large and very park like and the accommodations were more than adequate. We were upgraded by the owners to a two bedroom suite at no extra charge due to a conflict and were very happy with the apartment. It had everything you could possibly need and had a fully updated bathroom. The suite also had a lovely balcony that overlooked the hillsides of Grasse and Cannes. The narrow road to the location was a bit scary for us at first but we soon got used to it as everyone drives with caution. We were sorry we could not stay longer as it is also very centrally located to many attractions. Angelique is a lovely, warm and welcoming host as was her help Renee. Both speak fluent French, German and English which was very helpful and communication is quick. Thank you Angelique and Martine for a wonderful stay in your little piece of paradise!

A small spot of heaven among olive trees

5 of 5
We spent five wonderful weeks in the guest house of Riveloup. Leaving Canada on February 4th, at the coldest time of the year, we were delighted to see that spring had arrived in Riveloup. The mimosa trees were in full bloom, violets and primroses bloomed everywhere, and some trees started to bloom in the second week. The temperature was 12 Celsius when we arrive and 20 Celsius when we left. We had a few days of rain and one stormy night. The guest house is a lovely place, bright and cheery. The kitchen is fully equipped. The beds in both bedrooms, with bathroom en-suite, are comfortable. Our hostess, Liesel, made sure we had everything we needed and gave us advice on where to go and what to see. We walked every day, had lunch out in many of the restaurants and bistros in the area. We found that it cost not much more to have a meal at lunchtime than to cook dinner at home. Most places offer an Entree (appetizer) and Plat du Jour (full meal) between 13 to 16 Euros. Restaurants within ten minutes of driving are the Bistro du Clos and the Capprizio. A higher-priced restaurant is L''Écolle des Filles where we had excellent foie gras. For a different experience, one that takes a little longer, but is well worth the steep drive, we drove to Greolieres and had lunch at La Vielle Auberge, where the escargots were delicious. From there, we continued another 21 km up the mountain to visit Greolieres des Neiges. It was a beautiful drive with a view of the Alps , ending at the bottom of a ski hill. A busload of students enjoyed a day of sliding on the snow when we were there, but the skiing season had come to an end, as we didn't see any skiers, and the restaurant was boarded up. We visited Grasse, St. Paul de Vence, Gourdon, St. Tropez, Cannes, Nice, and took the train to go to La Scala, in Milan, Italy. After each visit we were happy to be ""home" again. The peaceful environment in Riveloup is truly addictive. On Saturdays, the organic farmer sells fresh vegetables, fruits and eggs. For visitors who bring their dogs to Riveloup, there is a large dog-run, just minutes from the guest house, in a park-like setting. We would go back anytime and recommend Riveloup to anyone who looks for early spring and likes to be surrounded by nature and the lovely, gurgling sounds of the river Loup flowing around and over rocks at the end of the property.

Great property in a fantastic location!

5 of 5
As a family of four we were looking for a comfortable property in a great location with access to a pool for our sons, aged 7 and 4. This cottage offered us just that. Although the owner's grandchildren were visiting early on in our holiday we only bumped into them at the pool once and for the rest of the time we had the pool to ourselves! There is a B&B on site also but there were no visitors during our stay. Situated on the hills the views were fantastic, especially from the pool area. The property is secluded, even though it is attached to the main house. The owners, Jean and Daniele were the perfect hosts, even inviting us round for aperitifs one evening. Very friendly and always on hand to answer any queries. Jean recommended eating at Cabris, a nearby village at the top of the hill next to the property. This was an excellent choice as we ate at Chevre D'Or which was simply amazing food and service! Highly recommended! The property is close to the beach, approximately 35 minutes in the car to Le Mandelieu-Napoule / Cannes. The beaches and sea were clean and the boys loved splashing about and using their snorkelling kits. Cannes is well worth a visit. We visited twice, once during the day and once on a Friday night where the atmosphere was electric. We also went to Monaco / Monte Carlo which was a great experience. We took the boys to the Musee Oceangraphique which is a huge museum about the ocean containing a well-stocked aquarium in the basement. We drove the grand prix route and visited the famous casino used in James Bond movies and Oceans 12. Finally a visit to Le Gorge du Verdon is a must! The scenery is spectacular (photos do not do it justice). Once at the lake you can paddle in the water, swim, sunbathe, or hire a pedalo (which we did). All in all a great holiday, lovely property and wonderful hosts.
