We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful, historic maison de ville with our two grown sons and one of their girlfriends. The home is loaded with elegance and charm dating back to the early 1600's, and it has been updated with all the necessary modern conveniences. The bedrooms, though not large, were nicely appointed with comfortable beds and furnishing. The kitchen was fully equipped and the living areas were spacious and elegant. The weather was lovely so we opened all the ancient windows to allow the sounds of the church bells and a distant accordion playing traditional french tunes to become a part of our authentic Burgundy experience; and we happily kept watch over a pigeon sitting on her nest in the tree just outside the kitchen window for the entirety of our stay. The home is just a few minutes walk to shops, restaurants, bakeries, galleries, and the famous Hospices de Beaune (a must-see historical treasure from the 15th century).
Ron was extremely helpful and corresponded regularly prior to our arrival. He made arrangements for Andrea to prepare two dinners during our stay, two afternoon wine tours, and he provided lots of other information about things to see and do in Burgundy. Although we didn't get to meet Ron, Andrea was waiting for us with an amazing meal upon our arrival. She was also our guide for the wine tours, made dinner reservations for us and went out of her way to make sure we were happy and comfortable. If she happens to be available when you visit, you would be fortunate to have her prepare an authentic French meal for you or be your guide - she is talented, enthusiastic, fun, smart, and seems to genuinely love sharing her passion for Beaune and the region. The property manager, Lydie, was also charming and very helpful.
Our son summed up our experience perfectly when he said, "It doesn't seem like we were renting the house, it felt more like we were their guests." Many thanks for a memorable stay!!!
