My wife and I spent the first month of our stay in Paris in this apartment and would gladly return to it without hesitation. It is wonderfully situated on the Odéon plaza and provided a window on the world of everything that is so intriguing about this phenomenal city. A book could be written on the plaza in front of the old theater with something different taking place on an almost daily basis and we felt we got to know the waiters and waitresses of the theater cafe on a personal basis, their customers and the myriad of different people that either parked their motorbikes in the plaza, walked through regularly on their way to/from work, or left their drivers with their exotic vehicles in front of the high-end restaurant immediately adjacent to the apartment.
And the apartment is incredibly located regardless of where in Paris you want to go. It was a five minute walk down to the Odéon stop on the #4/10 Metro on the Blvd. St. Germain and more restaurants/cafes/bistros than you can count, less than a block to an entrance into the Jardin de Luxembourg and all of the beauty and different activities it offered, 5 minutes or less to a large, well-stocked Metroprix on the Blvd St Michel, 4 minutes to a wonderful "English" bookstore(The San Francisco Bookstore) where you can buy almost any book you can think of written in English, 5 minutes to the Sorbonne or the Cluny, etc., etc. etc. In short, it was convenient to EVERYTHING ! We(both in our 70's) even walked to the Eiffel Tower, the Bastille and the Catacombs, Montparnasse and the Cemetaire Montparnasse, The Marais, The Musée de Orsay, the Louvre, and walked back from beyond the Arc de Triomphe on one occasion. But if this sort of exercise is not in your wheelhouse, taxi service is easily available and, as previously mentioned, it is no more than 5 minutes on foot to an entrance into the best Metro system in the world that, with one or more connections, will take you anywhere in Paris you ever want to go ! Once you develop some familiarity with the Metro, you will use it regularly and love the convenience, the quality and frequency of service and the low cost of first rate transportation.
I've run out of space! It is a wonderful place to stay in Paris, we'd gladly return in a heartbeat. Only issues:lack of a dryer and that the a/c wasn't reliable(Americans are truly spoiled by great central a/c !) during a week of high heat/humidity.
