Adorable apartment in non-touristy area of Paris!

5 of 5
My husband and I spent 2 weeks in the apartment near Canal St. Martin. First I must say that it took by 6'2" husband a few days to get comfortable in the small space. I am 5'5" and was perfectly at home immediately. That said I must say that it is very livable and very secure. We have been to Paris many times so we were looking for a more "real" stay rather than a tourist visit. We loved the Canal St. Martin, the locals sit along its banks in the evenings, there are numerous bistros and bars along the way and if you walk down a bit you will find a group of older gentlemen playing petanque in the evenings. It is near 2 main train station so day trips north or east are very easy. Best of all are the hosts- Seguire and Louie- who live across the courtyard. They are very gracious and helpful. For example- a friend ordered a bottle of wine for our birthdays from a Paris wine store to be delivered. Well, there was much drama around the delivery and we finally asked Seguire and Louie for advice. They took all the particulars and promised to see what they could do. The next afternoon we found a bottle of wine with a birthday note - not the first bottle but a gift from Seguire and Louie!! To make a long story short, they tracked down the original bottle and shipped it to us in Houston, Tx and it is in our home waiting to be enjoyed. I recommend this apartment for anyone that is looking for a "real" Paris experience and are comfortable is small spaces.

Charming accommodation and neighborhood

4 of 5
I would stay again in this rustic-chic house. Two doubles, one twin and a single were very comfortable . Good beds , lots of towels, excellent wifi. Everything you need. But if you have mobility issues the stairs may be a problem. I don't mention the loft bedroom because of the second set of stairs that are quite steep or the understairs single as the stairs creak. Two bathrooms and one w/c were more than enough and hot water was abundant. It is a charming place in a lovely courtyard and the neighbors are artists studios and other apartments. As I stated I would stay here again.
