Location: The Chalet is located steps from a lake, a great view! with many trees in and around it. It's away from very densely populated area to give it a rural feel yet only 15 minute drive to numerous restaurants. "City life"(downtown Tampa) is only 30 minutes away/beaches 40 minutes. I'm very familiar with the area and this is a great location (it's at the end of a cul de sac in a quiet neighborhood with very generous spacing between homes). The chalet is located next to the main house but sufficient in distance and layout that you still are afforded solid privacy. Parking is covered.
Building: The outside of the chalet itself is in good condition. Inside the furnishings are in good condition. The feel of the outside and inside gives it a mix of cabin in the woods feel yet still modern-ish. Inside it has a midsize-ish kitchen with a full sized refrigerator, full sized microwave oven, coffee maker, huge sink (the sink is an original, cabin type sink), plenty of counter space&cabinets, and a burner for frying or cooking. Next to the kitchen is the cozy sized living room with sofas. It has a new, adequate sized flat screen TV. The bathroom is more than adequate, shower/tub combo and is accessed from the living room/kitchen. The bedroom is large with a comfy king sized bed with good bedding. The bedroom has a large slider door-windows for that overlooks the lake. One of the real fantastic gems of the chalet is the large screened in porch that directly overlooks the lake. The porch has a couch sitting area on one side and a nice dining room table on the other side.
Modern Conveniences: Excellent Wifi, plenty of TV cable stations to watch, very good central AC.
Personal Note: I stayed in the Chalet for a week and absolutely loved it. Peaceful cozy atmosphere yet not far from many things to do. Perfect for a couple alone, two couples (pull out couch) or a couple with children. But if you're a large family I would recommend considering the main house. And if you are looking for Waldorf Penthouse type environment this is not for you. This is definitely for travelers looking for a cozy, nice cabin-ish feel accommodations.
I travel frequently and have stayed many number of times across the country using Homeaway/VRBO as well as direct-private rentals. The owner here, Barbara, is exactly the kind of owner that makes renting Homeaway/VRBO/private rental an absolute pleasure. When all these various parts are taken together I happily give it 5 stars
