A delightful stay

5 of 5
I spent five nights at Seven Oaks(3-16-21/17), and I don't know that I've ever enjoyed any place as much. I expected to arrive late, and Marylu and Ed were most accommodating about it; equally so when I was able to make an earlier connection. In the land of concrete and malls, Seven Oaks is a bit of old Florida, and the cottage is tiny and charming. Coffee, orange juice, muffins and fresh eggs awaited me in the fridge. There was a manatee cruising on the river right in front when I arrived. The cottage is clean, charmingly decorated and comfortable. Coffee on the deck or on the deck overlooking the river was quiet and pleasant. Early mornings were the best, with the horses quietly eating their hay and the hens pecking around through the trees, peaceful and homey. I enjoyed a lovely kayak time on the Orange River, and many interesting conversations with my hosts. The lights were on for me when I came home late, and the call of the barred owl on my last night in a waning moon was wonderful to hear. The hospitality was always warm and low key. I plan to return!

Tranquility in Ocala horse country

4 of 5
The setting, inside the gates of BG Ocala Ranch, is bucolic. Paddocks as far as the eyes can see. Horses grazing and frolicking. Enormous, dramatic Spanish moss trees grace the property, as well. The home is spacious, beautifully decorated with a minimalist flair and comfortable. A few upgrades would be well advised: Better lighting in the main living room. Enclosing the master bedroom shower. Improving issues with sporadic water pressure. A firmer master bedroom mattress. We also appreciated the meticulous groundskeeping throughout our stay, and the many open acres for strolling. The Farm House is a welcome refuge for equestrian competitors and their family members.
