    Recent Palm Island Reviews

This was our third stay at the Sundowner. We love the location and all the amenities!

Beach house location: perfect! There's just a short drive in the golf cart to the beach and to the ice cream shop/restaurant. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and feels very private. We enjoy grilling dinner almost every night and eating on the patio and rarely hear any noise from other neighbors. Beach house: so homey! It has everything we need! The washer and dryer are used almost daily as is the dishwasher. The bedrooms are decent-sized and slept 7. We put three kids in one room (ages 13, 11, & 8,) grandma and grandpa in another, and we took the master. Everyone slept great and no one was disrupted by people who stayed up late/got up early. The bathrooms were clean and bright. The kitchen and pantry were stocked with dishes and small appliances plus some condiments. We stopped at Publix on our way onto the island to grocery shop and then we also stocked up again one day during the week when we were off isand for shopping. The kids love having a pool to swim in in the evenings. The adults often dipped feet in too! The kids enjoyed using the sand toys, boogie boards and noodles when we went to the beach! Beach: gorgeous!! The whole family enjoyed hunting for shark teeth and beautiful shells. We took a lot of peaceful walks on the beautiful beaches and love that there weren't many people. We always had our pick of where we wanted to set up our chairs/towels for the day. We usually packed a lunch and spent the day on the beach and then grabbed ice cream on our way home in the late afternoon. The water is warm and the sand is perfect for sand castle building if you choose the right spot. We saw dolphins almost every day and saw our first manatee this year! It was pretty exciting! Staying at the Sundowner has been just what our family needed. We really wanted a vacation where we could all enjoy eachother's company and relax at the same time. With no schedule or itinerary, we had the freedom to just enjoy the slow pace of each day. The kids found new ways to stay entertained all the time (because we don't allow electronics in the beach house!) Overall the kids had a great time enjoying one another's company (minus a few fights!) and we had great family time at the beach and at home in the evenings playing board games. We are already looking forward to next year's vacations! Thanks Pat and Cheryl for letting us stay in your beautiful home!
