Wonderful condo in Fiddlers Green, Englewood, Florida

                                      5 of 5
We rented this condo for 4 wonderful months this winter. We loved it. It is on the 2nd floor, accessible by stairs, decorated so nicely, bright (skylights) & welcoming. The beds are very comfortable & everything we needed to cook with was provided. The stove top was easy to clean & the fridge has ice & water which was so appreciated. Lots of towels & linens. The lanai is the highlight. We were out there every chance we got. The view is of the surrounding green space & you can see all kinds of animals & beautiful birds. The chairs are very comfortable & we played cards out there every day. The TV is big & had all the channels we needed. The master also has a nice big TV on the wall which is a necessity for all the wives who want to watch Dancing With The Stars! The doors to the lanai open up completely across the living room & from the master bedroom, giving such a great open feel to the condo. The community is very friendly, has lovely landscaping & is very well maintained & quiet!! We only used the large pool by the clubhouse & it was always clean & so nice & warm! Clubhouse has good selection of books to borrow. Tennis courts & pickle ball! This is a fantastic part of Florida, scenic water drives, many golf courses & parks close by to walk & birdwatch. So many good eateries I can't begin to list them all. Boca Grande, try Newlin's Fresh Market for a lobster roll. Fawley's excellent food, pricier. Ricaltini's just down the road, good value, good prices, same with Prime Time. Mama's, good pasta & pizza, good prices. Flounders @ Englewood Beach, try the grilled scallop tacos..mmm. Gasparilla beaches, less busy than Englewood Beach. Several grocery stores close by. Short drive to Port Charlotte & you have all the stores you could want & all the chain restaurants & less busy than Sarasota. Drive another 10 minutes & visit Fisherman's Village, Punta Gorda, stores & restaurants on the water. Go to the Venice jetty to watch dolphins then drive along Casey Key to Casey Key Fish House, eat freshly caught seafood & see the historic bridge. Take the water taxi ($5 ea) from Leverocks Restaurant (5 minutes away) & go over to Palm Island to Rum Bay Restaurant, have lunch or dinner, rent a golf cart & tour the island & do some shelling on the beach! I could go on & on. You will not be sorry if you rent this condo. It's VERY nice & the location CAN'T BE BEAT!! Owner is friendly & quick to respond to all communication.

                                      Just call it Gilligans Island-

                                      4 of 5
We absolutely love LGI ( Little Gasparilla Island ). This is our 2nd visit to the island and to Long Haul Cottage. Randy is very nice, the cottage has everything we need for our stay (except baking sheets) & is kept very clean. No frills, just basic and clean. We bring our 3 dogs & 2 children and there is plenty of room. This year, we left the kiddos with grandparents so we could have some adult time. We did bring our dogs. This cottage is less than 3 minutes from the dock and about 5 minutes to the beach. Makes unloading very easy. Suggestion -you do have to prepare your own meals...all of them...so we bring enough food for Saturday night, Sunday & Monday and take the water taxi back to the mainland on Tuesday and purchase for the rest of the week at Winn Dixie in Port Charlotte. We also do any other shopping and/or eat a meal out that day. We find it's much easier to manage all your luggage, food, dogs, kids, supplies etc if we don't bring so much food the first trip. Plus we gauge how much we actually eat. Water makes us hungrier. We also have coolers and use cold bags from grocery store to keep milk etc cold during trip from grocery store to cottage. Of course, you do pay water taxi an extra trip. Also, you have to take your garbage with you so we take whatever we have up to Tuesday. Marina charges $2.50 per bag to put in dumpster. We bring a couple 50 gallon ones to put all our smaller ones inside. Also, I promise you will spend the majority of your time in your bathing suit or pj's. You truly only need your suit, pj's and 1 or 2 pairs of shorts & tshirts. That's it. There is a washer and dryer in the shed. Bring your toiletries, charcoal & a flashlight, minimal clothing, food and your relaxation mode. It's very peaceful, beautiful and fun. The ocean is often as calm as a lake and warmer than bathwater. We see beautiful birds, dolphins, manatees, manterays & wildlife on this island. Keep your dogs leashed...lots of places to lose them in the tropical areas if they see something. We do let ours run free near the ocean. Just have your leash handy in case others have dogs. Remember, there is not a store, not a restaurant, not shopping, not anything here except friendly people and thousands of seashells. So, call or email Randy and reserve your version of Gilligans Island vacation today. If you can disconnect from "the city", you'll love it here. We're already trying to figure out when we can come back next year. Same island, same cottage.
