This property was one of the best vacation rentals my husband and I have ever booked! We were there for one month (March 2016) and are already thinking how we can go back again, it was that wonderful! Each guesthouse is very spacious, clean, and well appointed. It would be an excellent setting for a family or groups of people (our guesthouse had a large table which was open to the living room; great for cooking, games, socializing, etc...). For my husband and I, it was a perfect stay. The guesthouse had everything we needed to settle in, cook, relax, and explore the area around Otavalo. The wood burning fireplace was a welcome comfort at the end of a day of exploring the area. A feature that was started morning and evening (if you wanted) by the wonderful staff at Ali Shungu. The trails on the 40+ acre property itself have stunning views and we walked them daily. The food market, craft market, and animal market in Otavalo are not to be missed. And, if you enjoy hiking, the area around Otavalo; Mojanda, Cuicocha (have the trout at the Mirador Restaurant at the end of the hike), Peguche, Taxopamba, Imbabura, etc... all have excellent day hiking options on well marked trails in beautiful settings. The owners Frank and Margaret were exceedingly helpful and accommodating during our stay. When they stated "ask about anything" they really meant it! They were a pleasure to get to know and talk with. The local people in the small towns of this area were also so warm and friendly. Many afternoons and evenings were enjoyed on the porch of our guesthouse, with a beverage, taking in the sunset. I would highly recommend this property to anyone, it is the perfect place to relax, the location is absolutely stunning, and it is very close to all the attractions of the area.
