My wife and I enjoyed very much our month-long stay in Mr. Bras's apartment this past February. We had flown into Samana airport from Toronto, then taken a cab along the beautiful highway next to the ocean, and into Las Terrenas.
We especially enjoyed the beach, the lovely views from the balconies, and we appreciated how spacious the apartment was.
The beach (right across the small road) is beautiful - lots of palm trees, soft sand - and not crowded. We spent most of our time there, and we always had a chair (provided by Palmeraie) and shade. The water was often quite calm for the ocean, easy to swim in.
We made a lot of use of the kitchen. The large modern fridge and the microwave were great to have!
Margarita (condo administrator) and the rest of the staff were very helpful and friendly. I got to practice my Spanish with them - it does help to know some when you're here.
We always got drinking water right away when we needed a new bottle. Minor repairs were made soon after we sent a request.
As it turned out, we didn't use the A/C very much since the fans were usually sufficient. As a result, the electricity bill was kept low ;-)
The pools look lovely but we found them small for adults. (The lap pool is long enough, but needs to be about a foot deeper for comfortable swimming.) Great pool for kids though. We just went to the beach which is lovely.
Mattresses are quite firm as most are in the Dominican. We prefer to bring foam pads from home for added comfort.
Being in the tropics, we sometimes had to manage mosquitos of course, keeping screen doors closed etc. They do spray so it wasn't too bad.
We rented a car for a few days and it was easy to have the guard quickly open the gate to parking in back - friendly guards. Usually we walked into town. You can get free delivery when you do your weekly shopping.
Mr. Bras always responded quickly to our questions and our needs. He provided great value and we would recommend his apartment to others.
