              Recent Las Terrenas Reviews

Could have been EXCELLENT but falls short

              4 of 5
16 of us stayed a week and the house looks just like the's a beautifully designed, sprawling property that has nooks and corners for everyone. If you want to spend time as a group - you can, if you need 'a break' and some quiet time, there are plenty of spaces to do that too. The bedrooms were all great but the top level master bedroom is stunning. With views and breezes that are made for relaxation. On a clear night, you can stars for miles. STUNNING. Now - to the bad part- When we got there (about 30 min early) - the house was a wreck. The housekeeper claimed that the last tenants left late so she wasn't able to get everything done. To be honest I'm not sure how 1-2 people are supposed to turn over that entire house in four hours (assuming check out is as 11). It's just too much to do. So while she did her best our first night the house (including all the bathrooms) etc were not thoroughly clean. Then we lost electricity, which of course is a common occurrence in the DR but then the generator also went down. I had to call property managers and they came right away and claimed this shouldn't have happened, but of course it happened at least 2 more times in the next couple of days. Then we were without hot water for the first three days. It's the tropics and a little cold water shower was refreshing but if EVERY bath is that it gets old - FAST. Plus we had younger children that were not enjoying it all. Then the was FILTHY. It was clearly not cleaned before we arrived. They finally sent someone by like Wed - but again it was a few days into our stay. Then the kitchen...we had a chef prepare lunch and dinner all week (we cooked our own breakfast). The food was great and the chefs were really nice, however the stove burners were so limited every meal was a 3-hour production. We ended up having lunch at 2-3pm every day and dinner at like 9/9:30!!! For a house that size that allows up to 12-16 people they need to upgrade the kitchen. Also, the house (and guests) would be well-served with a brand new set of pool/beach and bath towels, color-code so they don't get mixed up. Everyone was nice and did their best but as trip organizer I had to be on email all week with the agency managing the issues. NOT RELAXING AT ALL!!!! We made the best of it all and tried to adopt an 'island style' mentality but for that type of house which is beautiful and meant to be 'luxury' it surely fell short on the basics.

              Great vacation at Casa Inca

              5 of 5
We stayed at Casa Inca Jan17th to Feb 1st 2014.We had walked thru the house the year before and were very excited to stay there. We were not disappointed. And to our surprise a forth bedroom with a full bathroom and a large patio had been added to the second floor plus a total update to the kitchen. We had a wonderful stay as our family arrived for a family reunion.Casa Inca is perfectly located at the quiet end of Ballenas beach ,but a short walk to many restaurants. The house is right across from the beach. The owners Robert and Lynne supply lots of beach lounge chairs to relax on the beach. The pool is very well kept and the garden is beautiful. The house has everything you need and Nina the housekeeper is fabulous (and a good cook)We are already booked for next season very excited to go back to this house and visit with many great friends we met in Las Terrenas.
