                        We had a great stay

                        4 of 5
My husband and I had a great time at the Firefly Montezuma Beach house. The house looked just like the pictures. The grounds were beautifully kept. We were the only guests. Mercedes and Jarin maintain the property and were staying in the other house on the property. They did not speak English, so initial communication was difficult since we do not speak spanish, but we managed. The view is perfect, there is a nice cushioned cabana to relax in, and there is a ping pong table. We saw birds, iguanas, small lizards, agouti, and squirrels during our stay. We heard howler monkeys, but never saw any. We used the washing machine, which worked well. There are some rocks on the beach, but plenty of beach without rocks for swimming too. Montezuma was very warm during our stay. My husband gets hot very easily, but there is a very high powered ceiling fan that managed to keep the open air house cool enough at night. One recommendation would be to have a box fan in the unit as well to get the air flowing a little more on very hot days, but we were fine. Just took some cool showers to cool down. The kitchen met our needs. It had everything we needed. Note that it does not have a microwave or toaster. We toasted bread in the frying pan. The shower was nice, but the shower head made us a little nervous. It has a water heater in the shower head, and the electrical wires that supply it can be seen sticking out the top. Water and wires made us wonder, but we had not incidents, so I guess it works fine :) We parked our car at the end of the road near the turtle hatchery sign. We heard that cars get broken into in Montezuma and that it would be safer to park the car in town (5 minute walk), but we took everything out and parked at the beach the whole time. Everything was fine and nobody broke into the car. Carrying the luggage 100 meters on the beach from the house to the car is a bit cumbersome. The ATV is not always available because it is shared between 2 properties. There is a great trail to the left just past Ylang Ylang resort. There were a bunch of crabs on the trail, a very cool rock garden, and great scenery. We would definitely stay here again.

                        Highly recommended

                        5 of 5
My girlfriend and I stayed in the cabina for a week and it was incredible. Cassidy and Rayna made planning the trip a breeze, and Guillermo was very helpful when we got there and always responsive whenever we needed a ride into town. He was ready with the boat in Sierpe when we arrived, loaded our luggage into the boat, took us to SDP (10-15 minute ride), and then walked us up to the cabina and pointed out a few things, including the group of howler monkeys sleeping in the trees, during our walk up. The 95-99 degree heat was a little intimidating at first, but the ceiling fans in the cabina make it much better and at night it would cool off to upper 70s which made it very comfortable to sleep in. The walk from the pier to the cabina is uphill and can seem somewhat steep in parts, but makes it all the more worth it as you progress from the mangroves and forest floor to the canopy, where you're cabina is sitting perched overlooking the surrounding rainforest. Plus, you get used to that walk very quickly during your stay and we had some of our best wildlife viewing while walking on this trail. There are also numerous trails to hike throughout the property. I personally recommend the mangrove trail, which takes you through the garden where you can find some fresh fruit and then it proceeds along the river. We stocked up on some fresh limes and enjoyed them with our imperial beers. We just about ran out of batteries for our camera and took over 300 pictures during our first couple of days, which shows how much you can see while staying at SDP. One of our favorite moments was hanging out on the porch in the rocking chairs and seeing a three-toed sloth lounging high up in a tree during sunset just 100 feet away from our porch. We also took the kayaks out on the tributary near the pier and I tried fly fishing for a bit, but had no luck. My favorite activity was the night hike with Cesar. He is very knowledgeable and took us out on his farm and pointed out some amazing wildlife. It is a must for all adventure seekers! We also recommend getting out to Isla del Caño for a day, whether you snorkel or go fishing. They picked us up and dropped us off right at the SDP pier for all of these trips, which was very convenient. The town of Sierpe is full of friendly locals as well as a few shops and restaurants. If you love wildlife, hiking, camping, being remote, exploring, etc., this is the place to be. We will be returning here again in the future. Thanks again, Cassidy!

                        Una experiencia diferente

                        5 of 5
Seguro vamos a volver!!!
