Natural Beauty

5 of 5
This is a magical spot, tucked away beside a small river and surrounded by mountains. The backyard is full of flowers and interesting plants -- coconuts, papayas, and bananas! We enjoyed hiking up the river in our water shoes and relaxing on the hammock in the evening. The nearby town of La Suiza is within walking distance, although we were happy to have a four-wheel drive rental car. Everyone in the town was very friendly and accommodating as we cobbled together sentences of broken Spanish from long-forgotten high school courses. Most of all, the caretakers, Jaoquin and his wife Flora were exceptionally kind and welcoming. Jaoquin showed us around the property, eagerly answering our questions about the flora and fauna of the region. We ate dinner in La Suiza one night, and we cooked food we'd purchased from the market the other. The cabin had all of the utensils and pans we needed -- just make sure to bring any seasoning you'd want other than salt and pepper. In summary, a rustic, relaxing cabin nestled away in breath-taking surroundings!
