Nosara: Budget Vacation Rentals (31)

Peaceful - only the birds and howler monkeys to listen to

4 of 5
This is a beautiful place. The gardens and pool are spectacular. There has been a lot of attention to detail in the creation and design of this jungle escape. The tiling inside and out is amazing. The home is very comfortable and well equipped. This is an "away from it all" place just as advertised, so make sure you're prepared with food etc for your stay. There are a couple of restaurants in the area but a call ahead would be necessary to see if they're open or if you can reserve. The closest bigger centre is Nosara. It takes a bit to get there on a dirt road with some potholes and 3 rivers to drive through. One river crossing has a little bridge so if your vehicle is small enough you can use that. It's all very doable (we went back and forth several times) but I would recommend a 4 X 4 or a vehicle with some clearance to make your journey more comfortable. There are incredible beaches to visit between this jungle paradise and the town of Nosara.

Secluded and rustic

4 of 5
We enjoyed our few nights at Casa Yolo. For simple travelers who enjoy privacy and independence, this is a great option. We loved relaxing in the hammock and taking a quick dip in the mini pool. It was a great home base for exploring Samara, although quite a hike from the center of town - about 1.75 miles. We did not rent a car or bicycles so we walked back and forth to the main beach each day. It was manageable although we strategically planned our trips in and out of town. If you also find yourself walking I recommend bringing a backpack to easily carry your beach supplies and a flashlight to make it easier to travel at night. The bungalow has adequate but minimalist amenities. There is no A/C or television, although you don't really miss either. The kitchen is also sparsely supplied - most noticeably there is no toaster oven or salt and pepper. The Iguana Verde grocery store is on the route from town and has all the supplies you need to stock up though. The host Momo was also a great asset who was more than willing to help with anything we needed. She provided recommendations when we arrived and stopped by each day to check on things. We simply wanted to relax and unwind but there are many options for excursions (dolphin tours, fishing, kayaking, etc.) and Momo can help arrange the activities with the Samara Adventure Company.

Really great place

5 of 5
Everything was as easy as could be. The owner was very responsive to some initial questions. Upon arrival we were met and given a tour of the house and a demo on how to operate everything. The kitchen is really nice with modern appliances and a big granite island. There is ac in the bedrooms that was nice to use, but some nights we just slept with the fan and windows open (all windows have screens and security bars). In short, it's a very nice house. The view is terrific and the property makes you feel like you're all alone, even though there are other houses around. It's very peaceful to sit on the porch and listen to the sounds. The nearest beach and town are laid back. There's more of a Tico feel than tourist feel, which was what we were looking for. One thing to note was that one night the wifi stopped working so I called the property manager on the house phone. They were very responsive and made the call to the company, set up the appointment for the repair, and waited for the technician to show up to repair. We knew this was going to be happening while we were out exploring the next day so it was not an inconvinience at all. When we returned that night the wifi was repaired and all the trash cans were emptied. I believe that this small gesture demonstrates the property managers attention to detail and true care for the renters. Sure, it's not a big deal to empty the trash cans but, hey, we were on vacation and it was one less chore to deal with! So thanks again if you're reading this.
