We just returned from an absolutely perfect stay at Sean's home in Cabuya. First, let me say that from our first interaction Sean was extremely accommodating to our needs. We had been travelling so our schedule was changing and Sean was always quick to reply with the answer we were hoping for. We had initially booked 7 days but soon opted to extend this to a full two week stay and we are so happy we did! The house is unique to any place we have stayed before. Our first night it took a bit getting used to the open air/inside combinations and it seemed like a lot of doors, but we quickly got the hang of it and came to love the layout. We wanted to do plenty of yoga in Montezuma and were worried it would be a difficult commute without a car, but the 7kms to town proved to be a highlight. We rented bikes some days, walked others, and took advantage of the frequent and comfortable bus that runs between the two towns. The house is perfectly situated on the ocean, and though it is not ideal for swimming in the back yard, great beaches were only a short walk any direction. The walk to the Cabuya Island at sunset was a highlight of our trip. We would wake up in the upper floor with cool ocean breezes floating off the water and into the house only to be greeted by the most spectacular sunrises every morning! We called the back yard the monkey highway as there seemed to be 24/7 traffic of howler and capuchin monkeys constantly passing by our windows. It was the lush fruit trees that dot the property that they were after and we enjoy the star fruit and manazana agua as much as them. Cabuya itself has every and more you need with two small grocery stores, a bakery, and a handful of quiet restaurants. This is a perfect getaway for someone looking for the convenience of Montezuma mixed with the quiet, rural feel of authentic Costa Rica that is getting harder to find. We left feeling relaxed, grounded, and looking forward to our next stay at Dos Iguanas.

                      Fantastico!

Everything in this listing was true - great house, clean, steps from beach, all the amenities, secure, and truly a beach paradise. The house and location was so great, we just ended up hanging out there and making the occasional side trip (10 min walk on beach) to town for food or restaurant. Fairly good swimming beach was great for my 9 and 12 year old out front once I set rules on how far they could go out - beach in front was a bit rocky for surfing unless you knew where to go. Otherwise, 20 minute walk through 2 refuges down beach there was a fantastic beach good for light surfing and boogie boarding. 10 minutes away was a river with pools and water falls flowing into sea, and 5 minutes away there was a nice resort for cocktails and massage if so inclined. House wasclean and had all the amenities. 6 fans for hot days, but it was comfortable in shade on property in Feb. Property was great, right up against forest in back, far enough back to be private, and chock full of wildlife- howler and capuchin monkeys daily, iguanas, and bird-o-rama. Crashing surf put us to sleep at night. The other 2 houses on property are great too, and private enuff that it wasn't a problem to share the laundry, the hammocks or the ping pong table. Jerry the caretaker was great, he transported our luggage from/to town, and made us souvenirs from bamboo and was Super friendly and helpful - was hard to say goodbye. Car not needed- 10 min walk to town. Good for kids or teens - 2 families of 4 or one large family who wants more space; or 4 couples. All I can say is when we come to CR again, we'll have a hard time beating this place.
