Let me start with this:
Do yourself, your family, and your friends a favor by staying at this house! It is very rare that we have arrived at a vacation destination and the place we booked was actually far better than the pictures/reviews/description depicted. Rising Sun was the PERFECT house for us for so many reasons. We traveled with two families, one family of five (2 adults, 3 kids (17 year old boy, 16 year old boy, 12 year old girl) and a family of four (2 adults, two boys 16 and 13). There was more than enough room for all of us and we actually were able to put the family of four in the guest apartment and lower guesthouse, which gave us privacy for both families. The reality is that we were only in our rooms to sleep so it was not a hassle to go back and forth between the houses.
Each morning at 5:30ish, a troop of Capuchin monkeys came by the house and would play, wrestle, and even interact with all of us. They would normally come back through around 5-6pm and goof around again. Our kids, even the older boys, looked forward to watching them every morning.
Each day, with the exception of Sunday, Janet the housecleaner would come and spend almost the entire day cleaning up after the disaster that 5 kids would leave around the house. We tried cleaning up after them but as you can imagine, it was a futile effort. Janet made the house look brand new every day and was such a kind, wonderful person. As a tip for future renters, Janet has to walk down to the house and back up the very steep hill in the afternoon, so we started giving her a ride in the afternoon when she was done, if we were back at the house. Winston tended to the pool in the afternoon and would take time to show us the various wildlife around the house, including Howler monkeys, sloths, Capuchins, and other wildlife.
The bottom line is that this house, and this location, are wonderful. We are already trying to figure out when we can go back to try to see all of the things that we missed in our 8 days at this paradise. Thank you Sari!!!!!!
