Stop Looking. There's No Better Place Than This.

Villa Casa Blanca is gorgeous. It's immaculate, well furnished, tastefully decorated, perfectly maintained and it has the best view from the hills above Mal Pais that you can get. Just look at the pictures! Yet pictures don't do justice to the lovely sunsets, the sparkling sea, the long stretch of beach and the rich shades of jungle green that you see from Casa Blanca. Seven of us showed up for a week at the end of June: three 50+ parents, two 25-year-old and two 18-year-old offspring. Davie and Liz, the caretakers who live a scant 5 minutes away were there to welcome us and to answer any questions we had about Casa Blanca and about the activities available in the Puntarenas area. It turns out that they keep the house clean and are available to provide excellent meals if you pay for the groceries. They were able to provide pretty much whatever we wanted such as ATV rentals, directions to (and the best times for) the best beaches and restaurants. And there were some excellent restaurants in this out-of-the-way part of Puntarenas. The roads aren't paved and you need 4 wheel drive to get around, and there are jungle animals and birds all around, but there are hard-working Ticos (Costa Ricans) and ex-pats of numerous nationalities that give you an international choice of breakfast, lunch, dinner along with bars, water activities, jungle treks, horseback riding and lots of other good stuff. Of course, you can choose to stay at Casa Blanca to eat, swim, listen to music, watch movies, watch hundreds of butterflies, a few iguanas, and gorgeous sunsets and seascapes. The house is equipped with all the conveniences of modern living. One more thing. The owner Mike is a great guy. He seems willing to do whatever is needed to make sure that everything will go smoothly for his guests. He emailed us a complete brochure detailing schedules, directions, restaurants and the activities/attractions available in the Puntarenas peninsula. Although he was busy working in London, he made his phone number and email address available to us and was on call to make sure that nothing went wrong with our trip. He didn't have to do that. He's an extremely gracious person and I've never met a more accommodating property owner. I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. You will find it very, very hard to leave Casa Blanca. I am really stoked on this place and will be back. I very highly recommend to you both the Villa and the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area.
