Great value close to a beautiful beach!

My husband and I stayed at Casitas Johanna for six weeks, just arrived home yesterday. We had a wonderful time in Puerto Viejo. Our condo was sparsely furnished but Tico style which we wanted. The beds were all comfortable and can easily sleep 5 - 6 people. The upstairs bedroom has an air conditioner which can keep the entire condo cool and a huge king sized bed. There are two full bathrooms plus a powder room by the front door. The kitchen was sparsely supplied with cooking utensils but we discovered that by asking Janusz, the owner, or Kendra, the manager, they would do their very best to accommodate our needs. They were both wonderful people whose company we enjoyed very much. They did everything they possibly could to make our stay enjoyable. There is a lovely pool to cool off and the grounds are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. We walked the beach every day to town (20-30 minutes) for shopping, restaurants and sight seeing, or to The Point (10-15 minutes), a sports bar half way to town. A cab costs $4.00 if you prefer not to walk. Puerto Viejo is an exciting town that you have to experience to believe. We recommend Lazlo's for fresh caught fish dinners and Koki Beach for fine dining. Also Banana Azul for wonderful food and great service, Lydia's Soda and so many other places that we can't list them all. Food is pricy in Costa Rica but we learned where to shop for the best prices, including the farmer's market on Saturday mornings. We definitely plan to go back to Puerto Viejo and will stay again with our friends at Casitas Johanna.
