      Pura Vida Indeed!

We recently returned from a one week stay at Villa La Fiaca. It is hard to put into words just how incredibly perfect our time at the house was. The house was clean and comfortable, and the grounds have obviously been maintained with loving care. The caretakers, Rosa and Santiago, were just wonderful. They were there to welcome us with fresh coconut water served in coconuts with a straw, and Rosa cooked us a wonderful meal after one of our days out exploring Manuel Antonio National Park. Aldo, the property manager was also an incredible resource to our little group, making us feel welcome and at home. He helped us find activities to do and places to eat, acted as a guide on both of the hikes we went on, and set up two separate zip-line tours for different members of our group. We will definitely be staying in touch with him in hopes of returning soon and having a friend to spend time with. The weather was perfect. Not to hot, not too humid, and with pleasant thundershowers in the evenings that provided great photo opportunities on the beach (which we had almost entirely to ourselves for the entire week). The mosquitoes were quite obnoxious, but with an ample supply of bug spray and citronella candles, we survived. We saw as many wild creatures as we ever could have wished to. Lots of mammals and lizards at Manuel Antonio (though it was quite crowded), and several frogs and other reptilian species seen at Rainmaker. If you go to Rainmaker, it is nice to get in early before the heat of the day, before the crowds arrive. Hike in, take some photos, jump in the waterfall, then return to the main office to see what Perro Vida has on tap and devour a delicious lunch that the ladies will prepare for you if you let them know when you buy your ticket. All in all, an incredible, life-changing experience. We would all do it again in a heart beat. Never have I, in my entire life, felt so saddened to leave a place. Thank you so much for making your home available to those who need to find that little piece of their soul again!
