Trip of a lifetime for our family of 4 along with 3 other families (13 in our group). The villa was spectacular. It was offered seclusion and privacy with reasonable access to stores and good restaurants. The views from the villa were breathtaking. My favourite place to sit each morning was the 2nd floor balcony. Each morning we awakened to the sound of birds and howler monkeys. My husband even got up close to a sloth one morning that had climbed down to the ground just up the road from the villa!
The waterfalls at the villa are beautiful and are a short hike away (10 min). The pool was always the perfect temperature and our evenings usually ended with some time in the hot tub.
Pablo made the trip seamless from organizing our pickup and return to our hotel in San Jose to having our rental cars delivered and picked up from the villa. We were in regular contact from September when we booked to our trip in December. He answered our questions, pre-booked our excursions to zip-lining, whitewater rafting and horseback riding. He made good restaurant recommendations, helped us shop, made delicious breakfasts and came as our tour guide to the national park. Night time staff were always around and helped with whatever we needed.
Patricia and her staff prepared delicious meals for us at the villa the first couple of nights and even worked with us to create our own New Years menu. Cleaning staff left the rooms and villa in great shape each day.
We planned 2 travel days around the week long stay at the villa which turned out to be a good idea as it is a bit of a trip by van from San Jose to the villa (3-4 hrs depending on traffic). By doing this we weren't rushed as were able to pick up groceries and stop for lunch. On the way back to San Jose we took the coastal route and got to see crocodile bridge.
All of the excursions were good. Our family probably enjoyed the rafting the best overall. Also, while I didn't get to this waterfall myself, my husband, son and friends went to ECO-CHONTALAS, about 20km from the villa (suspension bridges and billygoat paths as my husband put it) but you could swim at the base of the waterfall and it was a spectacular site.
We chose this villa based on a recommendation from friends of ours that had stayed there and it did not disappoint. I would love to come back another time!
Thanks for the great memories!
