Excellent homebase to discover Nicoya Peninsula

      5 of 5
As first time guests to Costa Rica, we found the owner, Stephanie's guidance extremely helpful in understanding the local area. She even recommended transportation from the airport to her casita, which began our trip with a stay in Hotel 1915 including a great breakfast, then a ferry and buses which delivered us right to the front door. Once settled in we loved the casita and grounds with phone and internet. Each day, as howling monkeys greeted us, we began our day on the outside porch with fresh brewed Costa Rican coffee. As avid walkers, we found it easy to get to the local markets, restaurants (Cafe Nimbu was our favorite), and hikes to both Cabuya Island and Cabo Blanco Preserve. While we did hike to Montezuma by choice (7 km), we found the 5 minute walk to the bus stop convenient for trips to the farmers markets in Montezuma and Cobano. We got to meet many other travelers and locals on the bus. It's a social event. The walk to the pool at Hotel Celeje was a regular visit. The casita is nestled in with two other american owned properties and we stayed for three weeks and got to meet some neighbors who spend a few months here every year. It's away from the main dirt road, so no dust here. We had a great time in Costa Rica and really got the feel of the place by staying at Stephanie's. Thanks so much!

Nine days in Paradise at Dos Iguanas Guest House

      5 of 5
The Guest House at Dos Iguanas is in a perfect Cabuya location with plenty of privacy and within easy walking distance to shopping for all of the essentials, as well as near several restaurants. The house was exactly as advertised, with a well-stocked kitchen, a nice bathroom, a spacious bedroom and sitting room upstairs, and a pleasant outdoor dining space. We spent much time relaxing in the hammock, and we loved being high up in the trees and sharing the place with our frequent iguana, monkey, and bird friends. It was wonderful to be able to open the many sliding windows, but we also appreciated the screening and the fan upstairs. My cousin and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there as a base for our adventures in and around Cabuya, including swimming right out front at high tide, a hike in Cabo Blanco Reserve, a walk to and swim at Cemetery Island, an early morning walk to the river to see many birds, and several bus rides to Montezuma for some lazy days at Playa Grande. Although we were sad to leave, we are sure there will be many others who will have the pleasure of staying at this unique and beautiful gem, and that perhaps we will return again someday. Thank you, Sean, for sharing your special place with us.
