            A piece of heaven

            5 of 5
We loved our first visit to San Miguel, in large part due to this welcoming, beautiful casita awaiting us on the hillside after a full day in town. Other reviewers have already captured the essence of this lovely accommodation and the genuine hospitality of our hosts, Eli and Joseph. We heartily concur with their comments. You will not find more gracious hosts or a more exquisitely decorated space. But the true magic of the place is that amongst the beauty and romance, all your travelers' needs are met with conscientious attention and detail. The king size bed is incredibly comfortable and the shower is a full force spray with plenty of hot water. All the little touches have been thoughtfully provided by Eli and Joseph -- good coffee and filters for the coffeemaker, fresh mango juice and milk in the fridge, soft bed linens and luxurious plush towels, a nice Malbec (for a very reasonable price) with a corkscrew and heavy Mexican glass wine glasses at the ready, Kleenex, nice shampoo and conditioner, a small space heater for a cool morning, screens on the door and all windows to allow the fresh breezes through with no concern for bugs, lovely terraces for lounging and relaxing surrounded by huge pots of bougainvillea and lavender -- honestly, the list could go on and on. Every detail has been considered and attended to with incredible care and creativity. The casita is about a mile from centro, but don't let that put you off. It's a beautiful walk on a picturesque cobbled lane (make sure you have comfy flat soled shoes -- this is not a heels or flip-flop walk). If you prefer, take a taxi. They are very reasonable -- about $2.50 US each way. You can easily flag down a cab in centro or call one to the casita. The dispatchers speak English and drivers arrive on time. We used several and had no difficulty at all. We can hardly wait for a return visit to San Miguel and another stay at the paradise that is Casa de la Paz.
