                My own little paradise!

                5 of 5
I recently returned from a wonderful--but way too short--vacation in Ajijic. My cousin and her spouse had rented a house for the month belonging to the Mundis in Mexici and had invited me to join them. They stayed in the beautiful main house and I got to stay in my own lovely and private casita on the grounds. It was a charming setting decorated with traditional Nexican rugs and beautiful artwork and had the most fabulous shower encased in wonderful blue Mexican tilework...and oh, the shower head was absolutely heavenly! I hated leaving it, especially after days of walking everywhere on the cobblestone street, doing intensely wonderful Zumba classes followed by nightly dancing at welcoming clubs( all just a few steps away from the property!), I then got to lounge and luxuriate under the most amazingly soothing shower! I guess I probably luxuriated under it a bit too long but I simply could not resist it's soothing powers and the relaxed way it made me feel! Then when I stepped out of my casita which had its own little veranda and seating I would begin my day sitting and reading and marveling at the exquisite greenery and flowers with lemon and papayas growing right outside. But the best for me was viewing my favorite--the bird of paradise flowers just beyond my door--a vision that began each day for me as a magical one. The privacy afforded me by staying in my very own casita made me feel like I was on my very own vacation and not a shared one with my cousins, it was just like being in my own little paradise! I could not have asked for more and I do plan to return.

                Casa de la CRUZ

We absolutely loved the house. Very comfortable, wonderfully decorated, super location, and very helpful owner. We had several lovely walks around Ajijic - a lovely and friendly town, and also took in some local events such as the Tuesday Organic Market, the Wed tianguis (market), which was just down the street from our house, and a presentation at the Lake Chapala Society. We also took advantage of some tours which were very worthwhile: including to the Teuchitlan ruins and the tour around Lake Chapala. W also took the Tequila Express Train to Tequila to the town of Tequila and a tour of the Jose Cuervo tequila distillery. That was quite an experience - our train car was quite boisterous with many young (and some not so young) Mexicans thoroughly enjoying the free-flowing tequila! Ajijic is definitely a place I'll return to.
