This is my first review for a Cayman property and I hesitate writing it for fear of word getting out. Sunset Cove is a great property and the Strydom’s unit is the best unit on the property. I have been leading dive groups to Grand Cayman since 1993 and this is the property I chose.
The location is at the south end of 7-mile beach, and is close (walking distance) to many restaurants, bars and grocery stores. It is also an easy walk to downtown. It’s central location is great if you don’t want to rent a car, but, if you change your mind, it is an easy walk to Andy’s Car Rental (my choice).
Sunset Cove property is known for it’s spacious layout. There is plenty of room on the beach (I have been to some of the hotels and I truly feel sorry for the people who are crowded into such small areas). The pool is huge. I love how it is laid out so there is plenty of room for everyone.
I have three children who have grown up visiting Cayman and I have always felt very safe with them at this property. If you are raising small children, like I did, it is also worth mentioning that the liquor store is practically in the front parking lot.
Another unique feature of the property is the swimming/snorkeling cove. This is great for families with young children who need corralled, or for snorkelers wanting to see plenty of marine life. In addition to inside the cove, there is great snorkeling just outside the rocks as well.
Renting from the Strydoms could not be easier. Both Richo and Ingrid are very friendly and are quick with responses. They are also extremely accommodating should any need arise.
When you arrive, their greeter, Miss Betty, will welcome you with her friendly and charming personality. She is a Cayman native and is very well versed on anything you wish to know about the island.
I like how the location of the unit gives you plenty of privacy. You also get an amazing view looking to the south, towards downtown, and to the north, towards the northwest point. The huge deck also gives you a front row view for the amazing Grand Cayman sunsets.
The unit itself is updated and has plenty of room. The kitchen is open and well equipped. The vaulted ceilings give you a real island feel. The three bedrooms are a great economical advantage when your kids want to bring their friends, or you want to travel with other couples.
I could continue raving about the property. but I won’t… I don’t want word to get out …
