Sunset Beach Dream House Great Location

            4 of 5
Sunset Beach Dream House is in a fabulous location! Of course there are fabulous sunsets each night like the name implies, but it’s also perfectly situated just a short drive to Long Beach Harbor and Huntington Beach. From the home you can see Long Beach Harbor and Catalina Island. The beach itself seems to be more of a “locals” beach but it was never too crowded, even on the hottest days and weekends. From the house we watched the surfers each morning and we often saw dolphins in the water as well as some seals and once we even saw a whale. There was almost more wildlife to see here than on our Whale Watching boat ride. There is nice walking path behind the house that is nicely shaded and runs for about a mile. This trail connects with a much longer trail that follows the beach down Pacific Coast Highway. There is a harbor, behind the house, less than a five minute walk away where we were able to rent kayaks and paddleboards which gave our kids a nice break from the beach one day. We rented just apartment B of the home and spent almost every night doing dinner on the beach patio watching the Sunset. Apartment B is nice, but could use some updates throughout. The 3rd floor loft upstairs has ample room for sleeping (sleeps 4 easily with room for 6 if you use the trundle beds) – but it was difficult for our parents to get up the spiral staircase as they are older. The young kids in our group thought the spiral staircase was fun though. The carpet, furniture and bedding in the loft are a bit worn and dated, but usable nonetheless. It was nice to wake up each morning and see the beach from the bed in the loft. The main floor has two bedrooms with queen beds, a small bathroom with only a shower, the master bedroom which has a king bed and attached full size bathroom and a kitchen and living and dining room. One of the secondary bedrooms sits right above the street and with the windows open each night, the street noise was a bother. Again throughout the home, updates could be made such as new towels and linens and it was a bit dirty in spots (behind the TV, under the rug, on the outdoor patio) – but if you’re looking for a great location and don’t need the fancy finishes this place could be for you.
