        Lovely rooms with beautiful view

        5 of 5
Lake Cuyamaca Lodge provides a lovely retreat overlooking tranquil Lake Cuyamaca. We were there for two nights while attending a wedding in the area, and we would return in a heartbeat. We felt like we were at home rather than customers in an impersonal hotel. The larger rooms are spacious with en suite baths and walk-in closets. The lakeside rooms have sliding patio doors with access to the deck overlooking the lake. The mountainside rooms don’t have the lake view, but guests in those rooms can enjoy the lake and valley view from the common deck area while sipping a cup of coffee from the common kitchen, which is what we did. There, on the deck, you are apt to meet the owners (JoAnn is great…if you need something, just ask…she really wants everyone to be comfortable and enjoy their stay) who know the valley history, as well as other lodgers also watching the busy hummingbirds, or people fishing on the lake, or just enjoying the view. There are also 2 tiny, “express” rooms available for a reduced rate, but even these have en suite baths and are as comfortably and charmingly decorated as the larger rooms. Everything was as clean and neat as a pin with quality furnishings, such as big fluffy towels. The entire atmosphere breathes “comfort,” “tranquility,” “restfulness.” We had breakfast at the restaurant on the lake; it was ample and delicious. The historical town of Julian is just up the road, and there are two state parks adjacent for hiking and other outdoor activities. Thanks for a great stay!
