              Joshua Tree: Villa Rentals (6)

              Probably perfect for hikers...

              4 of 5
If we had come to Joshua Tree to hike in the park, I think the Retro Zen Den would have been fine. I would still have wished for mattress pads on the beds for hygiene's sake, a real second bedroom instead of a converted walk-in closet, and a bar or ring for a hand towel in the bathroom. The unit is conveniently located and very clean. It is well designed and built, and the furnishings are fabulous! There are soaps, shampoos and lotions which looked like they were left by previous guests. The kitchen had adequate tableware and cookware. The granola bars were a nice welcome and the book was very helpful. But I was in Joshua Tree for a family event. I would have really appreciated a closet pole for the one hanger present, plus a few more hangers. An iron and ironing board would have been great. Better lighting in the bathroom would have been a big help, but failing that, I could have used a mirror on a stand that I could have taken into a room with better lighting for grooming. And a full length mirror would have been wonderful! Luckily my husband was around to snap a couple of cell phone photos so I could make sure I was presentable. I do recommend this rental, especially for hikers who don't need to dress up. If you do need to dress for an occasion, just know to bring hangers, mirrors, etc.

              Nice unit

This is in a complex of older units that have been remodeled. Very nice unit. Clean and well furnished. My only comment would be I did not like the fact you were asked to wash the dishes when you finished. Not that I mind washing, I just needed to rewash what I used because I don't know how well the previous people washed. Feel this should be responsibility of the clean up crew. There is no dishwasher to make sure of disinfecting. I would stay here again.

              Cute place!

We came to Joshua Tree for Bhaktifest which was just up the road, so the location was perfect. The house is newly decorated and very bright and friendly. We had everything we needed, plenty of towels and nice touches like shampoo and body lotion and even mouthwash were provided. The kitchen was well stocked. The king sized bed was very comfy. The only improvement I would recommend would be something a little cushier to relax on in the living room. A couple of recliners to go with the white sofa, or a small sectional with a hide a bed would be great. At the end of a day in the sun hiking or whatever folks do, a place to sink into is nice. But we were still comfortable and we very much enjoyed our stay! I also met Cliff, the owner, who just happened to be around, and he was great. Asked us how everything was, and also showed me an adjacent property for possible future rental. Nice guy!
