Great location. A block away from Gaslamp Dist. with restaurants and clubs but little street noise. You can also walk to the marina area and balboa park but it is a ways getting back after a day of walking around. Place itself is quiet with only occasional sounds from neighbors. Bed, a foam mattress, was firm, comfortable. This is a studio apartment which is bare bones. Bedroom area has a bed. No dresser so you are living out of your suitcase on the floor. The is a table top, fold up ironing board less than 3 feet long. No table to put in on, just kitchen counter. Steam iron which never produced steam. Full kitchen but don't plan on doing much cooking. One fry pan and one 3 quart pan. No salt, no pepper. Someone did leave olive oil and onion salt. Remnants of body wash but no bar soap (we bought some) and no wash cloths. Two bath towels and one hand towel. Two lamps with dim bulbs (we bought brighter ones). Place is a cave at night but quite bright during day due to one wall of windows. If you have a car, there is a parking garage across the street, $15/night and a surface lot next door (didn't use). There were homeless everywhere. Some sleeping on the side walk a block up. If they bother you, be warned. If you don't plan to spend any time there other than sleeping this is a great place to stay. I will stay here when I return. Note: after getting in the first time, put the key fob on the black plastic box on the right hand frame of the door to open it.
