Diane is a wonderful hostess. She often brought us bags of fresh produce from the garden (more than we could eat!), and it seemed like she was bringing out a new pool toy for our children (ages 3-13) every other day! The pool was perfect for our family, and even the smallest could stand on the little steps in the small end. A car is a definite necessity. There are two small convenience type shops in the village, but we tended to go to Balchik to get the majority of our groceries. We also tried out many of the restaurants along the boardwalk in Balchik and found the cost to be approximately $10USD/per person. We were able to take our children horseback riding, to the beach, and even the Dolphinarium in Varna. Most things were only 15-30 minute drives, though Varna was closer to an hour away. Gurkovo is a quiet, quaint little village in the middle of beautiful fields. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and we would definitely recommend staying in this lovely home.
