This is going to be a long review as we really appreciated our stay here and I want to share our feelings with anybody considering a stay here. I can personally recommend this place wholeheartedly for those who really appreciate the best Brazil can offer. Everything makes you feel totally at ease from start to finish. First off, the location is pretty much unbeatable; the house is perched right at the top of a friendly gated community with views that are unforgettable as you've got an unobstructed panorama across the water that's visible from every bedroom, the living room and dining room and, of course, the fantastic terrace and lawn. You simply feel all the stress fade away as it's safe and quiet as well as visually stunning. Secondly, the house itself is not like too many high-end houses on the island that stick out like a sore thumb as they're basically something that you'd find in São Paulo. It blends into the coastal rainforest scenery as it's built out of environmentally sound recycled hardwoods and tiled with terracotta. The interior is perfectly laid-out so that the areas flow, but the bedroom areas - three on the ground floor and one on the first floor - are separated by a glassed-in corridor and hand-carved wooden steps respectively, so you don't feel cramped or on top of each other, even if you're in a group of eight as we were. The overall decor adds to the feeling of authenticity and comfortable coastal living. The photos aren't bad but don't do it justice as you really feel you've got your own Brazilian home. Other details make a real difference too, going from the rain showers in the downstairs bathrooms that allow you to have a refreshing, strong shower while admiring the view. Priceless! Little things like the wardrobes that are designed to keep your things from suffering from the mould that we unfortunately experienced at other more expensive Brazilian rentals and the intricately woven ceilings and a koi pond stick in the memory too. Outside there's a great infinity pool-jacuzzi combo that seems to disappear into the sea, a large deck area with loungers and a lawn to stroll and admire the view and passing birds swooping about. It's also mercifully almost safe from the scourge of the island; the voracious mosquitoes that devour you in many other places on Ilhabela. A special word for the owners as Celina and Dudu really make you feel relaxed and have great tips about the local area. We'll be back as soon as we can!
